Hearing God's voice with the help of the Holy Spirit

The second chapter of the book of Acts describes the events that took place on the day of Pentecost after Jesus ascended to heaven.

"Later, the advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send you on your behalf, will make you clear everything and remind you of what I have said to you" (John 14:26).

Verse 3 says that all people were filled with the Holy Spirit, the Advocate that Jesus had promised. This unique aspect of God's personality did not visit them as someone they could see and touch, but instead came to live in their inner being. That same Spirit is available to you and me today. Are you a Christian? If so, then you already have the Holy Spirit at your disposal. Ask God every day to be filled with Him again and He will prepare your heart to hear His voice. His Spirit, that small, calm voice within you, is the One who will remind you of what God has said and will help you to recognize the possibilities that God offers you in your life.

So we have the Bible, prayers, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and our own hearts as tools to hear God's voice. Do you want to hear God's voice? That is ultimately the question because God answers hearts that are willing. In the book of Revelation, we read:

"I stand at the door and knock in. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in, and we will eat together, I with him and he with me" (Revelation 3:20).

God will never force you to obey Him, but he is waiting for your willing response to His call. Do you hear His voice at this moment? Do not let your final answer be the wrong answer.
