Battlefield 1 the Runner Gameplay and Review
Hi guys and welcome to another gameplay/review, still on the adventure on battlefield 1, last time we wrote the gameplay about the Arditi , after been trapped behind enemy line, he fought his way through and defeated both flame troops, armored troops, whatever the hostile troops had to throw at him just to look for his brother who was separated due to a bomb blast that made the region disastrous, many life’s were lost been hostiles and friendlies and at the end of the game he found his brother out cold, dead and that was their last battle they fought together, if you yet to read about the gameplay, please do so Here.
Today we are going to play as the character Fredrick Bishop, so according the game, he was called the pride of Australian, now the story didn’t tell us why but the character was rather looking very old and for a soldier to grow that old fighting behind the enemy line, you already know he is probably going to be one of the best and surely he must have accomplished a lot and a whole lot of story to tell, now read on and am sure this right here is going to be one of the best play.
The runner
A runner was a military courier, a foot soldier responsible for carrying messages during war. Runners were very important to military communications, before telecommunications became commonplace.Source
Now I must say, the introduction of telecommunications really hard a lot of impact not just to our daily life’s as civilians but also to the war front, imagine how many life’s were probably lost to the war by soldiers who ran from one positions to another through trenches, shots from automatic weapons and bomb blast, truly they had specific set of talents and luck you probably couldn’t find and for a soldier to stay old doing this particular job, I must say Fredrick Bishop was surely a pride of Aussie and would be probably hard to find someone of his talent again, well we probably don’t need them that much anymore, afterall telecommunication been around for quite a long time and I don’t think anyone would love going back to those era when messages could only been passed in a written form and a carrier was needed to deliver the message(s).
Been a runner probably had its own advantage.
Our mission today starts from a ship, we just received a new intake and he was going to assist us, now the problem with this intake, was that he was just a kid probably between 17 to 18 and the worst part was that he lied about his age just to get enlisted, now who does that?
But then, more hands were needed, so he was enlisted, great one more person to look out for excluding myself.
You probably wondering why I didn’t send him back, after finding out about this, well I actually did but then it was too late, the message already passed through, he was already enlisted and already came this far, now for some reason, he was looking forward to meeting me, you could tell by the smile around his face, he was totally happy meeting Fredrick Bishop, the pride of Australia and guess what?
He too was an Aussie, lol call it luck or not, well he was already here and was going to stay.
First Mission
Clear the trenches, take the beach and secure/capture the position.
Looking from the ship, the hostile defense was top notch and it was clear that, if we were going to move or go through the trenches we needed more help and thus Dreadnought.
The dreadnought was the predominant type of battleship in the early 20th century. The first of its kind, Dreadnought's design had two revolutionary features: an "all-big-gun" armament scheme, with more heavy-calibre guns than previous ships, and steam turbine propulsionSource.
From the image below, we can see the dreadnought was actually a beast, created to release hell on earth, after shooting few rounds, the hostile defense was crippled instantly and the aim was solid, it was now safe a little, to move in and not get killed instantly.
Capturing the beach was no easy task, with automatic operated weapons at every checkpoint, we had to device mean to pass through unarm, like we earlier said, guns and better weapons could be gotten from supply crate found behind enemy lines and also from fallen soldiers. The weapons I started this mission with, was a shot gun and a riffle 75mm riffle, parked a lot of fire power behind it, was able to deliver one shot one kill, just are we like it.
First was to clear the trenches, this meant we had to enter the trench and destroy what was left behind after the shot from the dreadnought. The defense had been crippled severely and only few soldiers were left behind to man the position others had been killed probably from the fire the dreadnought brought or from debris that were probably dispersed upon landing.
Next was to secure or capture the position, to do this we had to fight our way to the top, taking at foot hostile troops which included both snipers and manned automatic weapon, it was no easy job but after few minutes, the position was captured and a flare signal was sent out signaling the position was ours now.
Turning back we saw our new intake Jack Foster, now he disobeyed a direct order given to him to stay behind on the ship and only to move out alongside other troops when he saw the flare signal. But all this while, he was actually behind us. Now I don’t know the idea he got upstairs, thinking war was or is a child’s play, but after showing him what was left behind from the wreckage, well let’s just say his stomach couldn’t stand it.
The little time we had left, was used in teaching him a little, how to probably hold a weapon and charge forward and also a little encouragement, telling him that,
We are Australian, Impossible to kill.
That ended the first mission, time to move out to the next mission.
Next, A runner for the frontline
Moving back to the camp, our commanding officer needed a runner on the frontlines and for some reason my skills were not needed, the boys own was actually needed, probably I was getting too xd. But I objected, the boy was far from ready, the officer heard my plea and I was immediately assign the task.
My mission was to run from our current position into the enemy line and locate our troops who were currently locked behind enemy line, return back and state their current position and condition, well this was not easy a bit, behind enemy line constantly been shot at and little or no time to think, we only had one goal, Run and don’t get killed.
Now the problem been a runner, is that the messenger won’t know if the message was delivered until the runner returns back to confirm it was.
Running through the frontline was no easy task, try to avoid any confrontation as much as possible and take the current chaos into your benefit, since everyone was occupied fighting each other. Run as fast as you can undetected and take shelter when the need be.
I safely ran and came back and the story was that, the troops were currently pinned down and it didn’t look like they will be around for a long time as the hostile troops were gradually about to take their position and they planned on leaving no survivors.
A new mission quickly came up, locate the rear command and tell them we will be moving up, quickly we head out but something didn’t seem right, the command center was deserted and nobody was within sight.
Moving in we found a later left behind by a runner and it read
For those who didn’t hear from a runner, the allied position is lost. Artillery fire ordered to cover retreat to beach. Shelling the village and outlying forts.
Seeing the note, we had to move back quickly as possible to warn the fort, that little or no time was left behind, we had to retreat.
Going back, the fort was currently under fire and we needed to defend it before any discussion could take place, which we did after minuets of fighting, now the news came in, but some of the soldiers already moved out to capture the enemy fort. They were stuck behind enemies line and had no way of coming back, among them was the young boy Jack Foster.
Hearing the news, I knew I had to move out and rescue them.
It was going to be our last mission, fight our way through, rescue our team and retreat to the beach before the shell starts coming down on us.
Going back, first thing we had to do was pin point the current location of all hostile troops using the binocular, the best part about this, is that every soldier you lock in with the binocular would be seen at every time, giving us time to plan how best to tackle the situation before us and also the best possible way to come out unarmed. Although stealth would probably be the best after pinning down each hostile soldier, but what fun would it be compared to when we can take them all out with them seeing us and unable to do anything.
Short story, we defeated them all and advance forward, soon we were at the location of the pinned down men, we had to move out now before the shells came down,
But?
Yes there is another but xd.
No way to move out with the hostile fort just behind us, it was probably going to be suicidal, having nowhere to hide and giving the hostile troops way to kill us all using their own shells. I had to stay behind and convince the hostile troops that I was capturing the point, whereas I was distracting them to give Jack Foster and the other comrade’s time to escape while they were focused on me.
Quickly I moved out same time with the men and our path once was again divided, I was to act like I was capturing the point while the team moved out.
To do this, I had to announce my present, focusing all fire at me and ensuring I bought as much time needed for the men to retreat safely to the beach.
The battle was serious and lasted for a while with me capturing the point lol, bet you didn’t think I would move through, the laughs on you.
But just as I was about to round it all up, a soldier snuck up behind him and landed a clean hit. Although, I got him back, but it was impossible to move out now, with the wound quite deep and the distance to the beach was just too far to make it, the shells began to rain down and just before then I saw the flare signal up and I knew Jack Foster was safe.
At least the kid made it out.
