RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic Review - Does not add much to the series

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is the reissue of the first two games and the TLC's Wacky Worlds and Time Twister. In the game you can build and run an amusement park, giving you an objective to have, for example, an x number of guests in your park within a certain time. The game challenges you to play all parks again.

Lots of content

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic does not just contain a few parks, but an overwhelming 94 scenarios to play. All parks are the original parks of the first two parts, with a few additions and minor adjustments. There are also a number of reallife Sixflags parks, which you can build yourself from the ground up. This option gives you the opportunity to run a real theme park.

The park editor option, lets you build a complete scenario of the ground. The home screen is completely empty, no hills, no trees, no water, and even not an entrance or a gate for securing your territory. Although the option is fun, it's nothing for me personal. I never had the patience to build a skate park in Tony Hawk, not to make a race track in Trackmania and also not to create a theme park challenge in RollerCoaster Tycoon.

The best mode is Time Twister, one of the TLCs for RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. This mode allows you to build a park in another time, for example, you can create your own Jurassic Park.

Challenges

The theme parks are conveniently divided into small groups, which gives you the opportunity to choose from a wide range of parks from the outset. In addition to the group selection there are Challenges, a set of parks with a completely different and often challenging goal of the park. For example, consider a parking lot that can not be below a certain level, or can not ask for entry to your roller coasters. These challenges make playing a lot more interesting and challenging.

The layout makes choosing a new park a lot more clear. You can decide whether you first play the easy parks, or even bigger challenges.

Gameplay

The gameplay, like in the original RollerCoaster Tycoon, has a few minor problems here and there. Nothing what the game breaks, but just a few little annoyances. For example, it is very inconvenient to place on a raised walkway bench or bin. Not because you do not want visitors to sit there, but because the cursor automatically settles down on the floor. A positive little adjustment that struck me is that you're no longer kidding endless trees while building roads, but they disappear automatically under your path. Another positive point is that there is a fast forward button. This allows you to speed up the time and you do not have to wait endlessly when your money is on.

The theme parks can run in the same way as you could, only you can not adjust the entry fee. I personally feel so sorry, because that was always my way of making a profit. It makes me feel that I have to find another way to make a profit.

Conclusion

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is a fun addicting game, but not because it has been released again. You could just as well stop the original disk in your PC. The overview is a nice update and you have more scenarios from the start to choose from. I am especially sorry that no solution has been found for the minor annoyances of the miss clicks. It would have been nice if the graphics were a bit polished, but it is not necessary. All in all, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic does not add much to the series, it gives you the opportunity to buy the games in a package.

Thanks for your precious time.
