A Gamer's Struggle :-

Gaming on decent settings is a whole new struggle these days. As it has been completely changed from the day it actually came to existence. Those were the good old days when Counter Strike was any gamer's first choice and people use to spend tons of hours in-game, communicating with new people & making new friends.

But now a days a new trend is emerging where a recurring series of same old games with same old game-play features is released every month just with better visuals and a new title to hog customers money towards company pockets. This better visuals which companies nowadays enlist as a new ground breaking feature requires a ground breaking amount of money to cope up to its full potential.A new hardware is required every year which weighs a lot of money just to play the same old obsessive game with enrich visuals.

Even if the 60$ price tag for base version of the game is not enough, the big AAA companies attempts for cheap cash grabs like Loot boxes, paid DLC, gold & premium packs , micro-transactions etc. are still some major problems for an average consumer. Not saying that all the micro-transactions are bad say transactions for cosmetics, which is needed for the developers to better improve the game and it helps to pay for the game servers to be running for a long period of time. But certain games tend to defy certain boundaries and gives players the upper hand whom are willing to pay , which creates a pay to win scenario ultimately ruining the experience for the dedicated community.

All the problems listed matters for those players who can't afford to pay this huge amount of money just to get a decent and fair experience. For those the game experience tends be a bit laggy, unfair & seems not as pleasing as the game was advertised. This ongoing ultimately comes to bite down the developers due to lack in sale numbers and cannot able to reach the expected profit margin ultimately leads to loss and bankruptcy of the company.

And don't even get me started on game bugs, cheats , server issues , lags etc. That's a whole new level of insanity which i am not here to cover.

So what can we do as a community to prevent this?

As a gaming community, players should stop promoting certain pay to win practices and start taking a step against those companies via social media. This really helps in creating a fair environment for the players and its a step towards future investment for the players who don't want to pay annually just for the same experience.

As a developer, you don't have to make sequel no. 7 for the same game . Just make one unique game for the players to enjoy. There are many examples of new titles say God of War, Spider Man, Shadow of Mordor etc which has been successful globally. - AJI72
