KITCHEN HACKS | HOW TO PREP GREEN SMOOTHIES FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK (FRUITSANDVEGGIESMONDAY)

When life gets really busy it's time to bring out some kitchen hacks. If you have been following my blog then you must have noticed we love our green smoothies in the morning. Since we opened our little bakery, however, mornings have become so hectic then we don't have time for them!

So for this week's #fruitsandveggiesmonday and #makeithealthy I want to show you how you can make your green drinks for an entire week to spare some of your precious morning time. So no more excuses to not have one of these good-for-you morning drinks… let’s get started.

I went to the market yesterday and picked some fresh mangoes from the garden. I made 6 recipes ready to go as Monday is my day off, so I will make them fresh on that day.

Step 1: Collect Your Ingredients and Supplies

When you go shopping stock up a week’s of leafy greens, fruits, liquid bases. Other things you’ll need before you can start prepping are Ziploc bags or plastic containers suitable for freezing and delicious recipes.

Step 2: Prep Your Ingredients

The first, wash your fruits and vegetables. Spin or pat dry and start chopping or slicing your fruits into chunks.

Label Ziploc bags or plastic containers with date and ingredients. Measure ingredients (just leave out the liquid base) and pack them into the bag (don’t pack the bags too tightly). Add the greens on top.

Place the sealed bags or containers in the freezer. You can use them up to 6 months, although it is best to use them within 2 to 4 weeks for the best quality and nutrient preservation.

FYI: Leftover fruits can be frozen to make nice creams. A healthy, easy and yummy snack!

Remember the standard green smoothie recipe I shared a while ago (serves 2, or makes around 32 ounces)

Once you get accustomed to this not-so-green taste you can add more greens, or just stick to this ratio. Not all people enjoy a strong, green flavor and that’s just fine.

Step 3: less than 5-minute breakfast

Before blending, thaw the Ziploc bag or container with the smoothie ingredients for a few minutes on the counter or in warm water.

Add the fruits and green to your blender, add your favorite liquid base and blend until smooth. Pour into a mason jar or any other portable container and you’re ready to go!

GREEN SMOOTHIE OF THE DAY

This is the one I took out this morning. It had dragon fruit, banana, mango, moringa, bok choy, and mint.

FYI: Freezing Blended Smoothies

Blended smoothies can be frozen too. Just get them out the freezer the night before. Let them thaw in the fridge. They may separate due to the freezing and thawing process, but they are still fine. Just give them a good shake before drinking.

See super easy. Once a week you’ll spend about 15- 20 minutes cutting, chopping, and packing. Doing this will save you a lot of time in the morning! Stay tuned for the recipes in my daily green smoothie section. I'll take a pic of every smoothie each day!
