There had been some discord between the two children, but never as bad as it had been that day.
The two boys were brothers, best friends, and buddies. They could finish each other sentences and predict the other’s actions as well as their own. This may have been their detriment.
Before the light of day, the two began nit picking.
“I swear if you call me a name again I will punch you square in the face!” Charlie screamed at the top of his lungs.
This of course was followed by Norman calling Charlie another ugly name.
Their mother was at her wits end. She’d tried all she could to get the two boys to get along, but nothing was helping. This time she had to go to extreme measures; or at least they seemed extreme to her. But she had no choice, her boys simply would not stop fighting.
It took all morning to set up the boxing ring in the back yard, but the more the boys screamed, the more determined their mother was to finish the job.
She called the boys into the back yard, gave them the boxing gear, and told them to fight it out. The boys looked at her with surprise but smiled nonetheless.
Before long the immature name calling, and bickering turned into swings and dodges, and eventually into laughter. The boys smacked each other repeatedly and in the end the brothers become friends again.

As the mother of two young boys growing up, I definitely can see this happening. My ex-husband also had several brothers and this was a common occurrence. Sometimes it does take a little bit of punches on brothers to get them to settle down and realize that they're actually still friends!
:D I thought it would help. My nephews would fight night and day! Too bad we didn't have a boxing ring!
That's an excellent idea and apparently effective!
