How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Bernard the woodchuck measured his strategic dam and then swam to the edge of the water to gather his wood chunks. He was a very experienced woodchuck you see, so he knew exactly what he was doing. He often smiled when he worked because he loved building dams so much. This was an old dam that needed repaired, but Bernard felt that he should build a brand-new dam.

This part of the river was slow, so he didn’t need very many materials; not like the huge dam he built last week. That one was a doozy! No, this one would only take a few hours and he didn’t know what else he would do with the rest of his day. Bernard swam to the bottom of the water and scooped up the thick mud and brought it to the dam to seal the cracks in the wood chunks.

This dam would last a few years he thought, but he had better add some more twigs and leaves just in case. When he was done, he stepped back to look at his creation. It was marvelous. He stared for a minute or two more to be sure no water fell through the dam and then he patted himself on the back. Yep he was the finest woodchuck around and he made the best dams.

A lot of wood would a woodchuck chuck cause a woodchuck can chuck wood!!!
