Day 133: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: the attic
She took her time climbing up to the attic,
while carrying the weight of her past.
She had thrown the boxes up there;
Never needing or wanting to see those things again.
But her time on this earth was ending,
And she didn’t want her family to know.
They would never think of her the way they did now.
They would never look at her the same again.
Why she kept such memories alive in the box she didn’t know.
It wasn’t her proudest moments.
She never wished to relive the memories,
But still could not part with them.
She didn’t think about him either.
He was part of someone else’s life.
Someone she had not been for a long time.
And he wouldn’t have wanted her to regret anything.
He would have wanted her to treasure every photo, every trinket.
But her family wouldn’t understand that.
Because they sold her when she was young.
She was given as a gift.
For two families to gain wealth and power.
It was her secret.
But if she didn’t destroy the box now,
she’d forever be erased from her family’s memory.
They would never speak her name.
Unless it was to warn others of how not to behave.

Its amazing the stories a box can hold from whats inside to who put whats inside inside.

I am stuck on this was he her husband,lover, or just her !past!, The play and use cases could be endless conflicting yet simple, in a 5 minute write you have left me desiring so much more thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for stopping by and reading my freewrite! I think I was going to show her reveal something sinister, but it had to be something forgivable, just not forgivable to her family. I didn't get far enough before the time ran out, but I think he was her lover, and her family gave her away thinking she was pure. If they found out she lied it would tarnish the family's reputation. :D
