Day 78, Prompt: Pen - 5 Minute Freewrite Challange

He threw the pen across the room. The silence was deafening and he couldn't take it anymore. For days he's tried but for days he's failed. He couldn't do it, he couldn't finish what he'd started. His whole life had revolved around himself but now it was time to think about someone else.

The stress was building and he could feel his heart fading.
Why had he been so selfish? He still loved her and didn't want to let her go, but it was too late.
Too late to change what he'd done, and too late to learn right from wrong.

The pen laid lifeless on the hardwood floor, it's stillness calming. He stared at it, wanting it to bring him some hope, anything. But what could it do, it was a pen? He felt foolish and started to get angry again.

He grabbed the pen and tossed it on the table, the divorce papers stared at him like a principle stared at an unacceptable student.

But his heart was empty. All the love, all the hope he had once had, was gone.

This time his heart faded, forever.
