PowerHouseCreatives Contest (Season 2) + @manoldonchev's free editorial pictures: Odin's decision

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

Charmander evolved to Charmeleon, Bulbasaur evolved to Ivysaur and Steemitbloggers evolved to PowerHouse Creatives! And with this change and 2019 the new season of our community contests has arrived!

@zord189 came with another idea how to challenge us - write a fairytale using following keywords: powerhousecreatives, magic stones, treasure, halfling(s), pork, throne, castle, dungeon, village, wizard

Extra challenge on top

We're also advised to use pictures! And that's where my idea came from - our member Manol (@manoldonchev) runs this underrated project of providing free editorial pictures. So I've decided too challenge myself even more and try to fit some of his pictures into my freewrite already limited by keywords :) Let's do this!

Odin's decision

Odin fell into his bed half dead. It didn't even matter to him that the mattress didn't offer the expected resistance.
"Shit, sleeping bugs are again not doing their work!"
thought Odin. Ever since he switched to this 3rd generation mattresses developed by wizards, there were only problems. Maintenance was advertised for cca once in 3 months. The reality - Odin founds himself in dungeon every second week, picking sleeping bugs from under Dancing Baobab trees.

From some unknown reason, bugs lose their chakra and relaxation abilities much faster then the wizards promised. He tried to persuade himself going to the dungeon is good for his health + he made couple of friends among Fuaths (flying bulls). He also saw some nice sunsets..but still.. This is not what he paid for.

Yet another reason reason why halfling should never use wizard technology..

"If only could I finally get my magic stones! With them, everything would be sooo much easier.."

Last week was Odin's 3rd time of failing the PowerHouseCreatives exam. An exam only the best students pass and the rewards are 2 mighty magic stones. He want's them soo bad..He could just create an infinite supply of sleeping bugs for his mattress always when he needs it!

His mind shifted to his second failed attempt. It was the one he really felt confident going there. The only problem was - halfling's never ending love for magical pork. Ever since the split between wizards and halflings happened, this has been the issue in every halfling village. The tasks which were once automated by wizard skills are nowadays being done by small and not so clever halflings. To successfully execute even tiny spells, they need to eat a lot of magical pork. So Odin thought that stuffing himself with 2 full servings of Chakra Pig Pad Thai was a great idea how to pass an exam. The only problem was that the only thing what passed was him. He passed out in the restaurant immediately after finishing his family-sized portion. When his peers tried to wake him up, he wasn't showing any signs of life. Another typical characteristic of halflings - when they sleep, their reactivity to the world around them barely matches a brick wall..

So here he is, 240 years old and still not having his stones. He still remembers his resolution from 37th Drogawth from Year Of The Grasshopper - exactly 168 years ago. By the time he's 250 years old, he want's the halfling throne to be his. He wants to be the village mayor. That means he has 10 years to go..wait, is it 9? ...250-240...hmm..10 years to go. Odin knows he really has to push the gas pedal if he wants to make it! Split of a second before he falls asleep for another 72 hours, he makes a new and even bigger resolution:

" I'll become the first halfling to live with wizards in the castle..Ideally in the tower..there must be a reason why my name is wizard name..I want to be their king..Odin IV, the first halfling king of wizards"

And with this thought, his last breath for the next 72 hours happened. As a result of the legendary spell of wizard Otrix, all halflings don't breathe during their sleep. Noone remembers what really happened that day, but legends say the spell was so strong the sky opened and huge lighning-like beams of chakra flew down in amazing speed, hitting every halfling several times.

To these days, this spell and lack of oxygen in the night causes halflings' brain cells to slowly die out during their long nights. That's why they will never match the knowledge of wizards. At least that's what every wizard believed is impossible. But on the very next day, Odin found something in the dungeon while picking his new sleeping bugs - forgotten halfling treasure! :) Things were about to change!

Thanks for reading! :) Matko.

Dear @matkodurko

I've noticed that you were delegating some SP to dstors as a way of supporting their project. Im not sure if you've aware but they shut it town.

Those guys from dstors didn't even bother to contact people who supported them. Such a shame. This project looked very promissing.

ps.
I was wondering if you would consider supporting my efforts in building a crypto community here on Steemit..

Since HF20 took place, myself, along with a few other active "Steemians" decided to put in extra effort into making our little community stronger. And community build mostly on mutual engagement and support instead of financial rewards.

I recently delegated over 3500 SP to a group of 80 active steemians who struggled with low RC levels (resource credit). And the results has been great so far. One of my latest posts reached over 800 comments, which I found insane

Those results are only proving that our efforts are worth something. The only thing is that I can only do "that much" with my current resources.

Perhaps you could consider supporting our efforts with some delegation? I would seriously appreciate your help.

Please let me know what do you think. I will appreciate every feedback, regardless of your decision.

Yours
Piotr

Nicely done, @matkodurko! Congrats on winning an Honorable Mention in the #powerhousecreatives contest!
