5 min Writing Prompt "Mishap" #freewrite Serial Story ACT TWO Chapter Twenty Six
It is, of course, just a suit - jacket, tie, vest, dress shirt, trousers. But Simon knows that this suit is also made of an armour that cannot be so easily detected.
"To protect his Highness against any mishap that befalls…" hisses his snake companion, while Simon removes his own filthy clothing and discards it on the floor of his abandoned court. "And to serve calamity begat a thousandfold…"
The suit fits him perfectly, and with it's feel against his skin brings the memories of old battles, both honourable and ignoble… I am a King, he thinks, tying a Double Windsor at his throat. He can almost feel his Queen's fingers gently adjusting his tie. And now her jade eyes are twinkling as she gazes at his collar, then up to him. There. Now you're perfect…
After slipping into the leather boots provided, he calmly strides across the room to a mirror set into a stone wall. The figure that looks back at him seems alien for a second, then the Polarity arights to his former self, exhorting him on. Go now, pursue your enemies. Find your Queen.
Beget calamity a thousandfold.
