My soul is a church you don't want to walk in - Day 117: 5 Minute Freewrite

Church existential: my soul is a temple where I take refuge, a spring water pool. My soul is a nest of demons that fight a never-ending battle, a smoky swamp of entwined intestines.

Church experience: a church in Tuscany, a family always fighting, a kid escaping from the shouts of his frustrated parents, an unexpected discovery under a centuries old oak tree, the first love that two innocent children will never forget.

Church horror: the church is the only shelter of this town infected by deep evil. Run to the church. Well, the church is actually the source of that evil. Welcome to be part of it forever, my lost friend.

Church poetry: I will raise psalms in the church of our illusions / Immerse me in the baptismal font of your forgetfulness.

Church steemhome madness: in the last two weeks, Marianne's freewrite prompts were including more and more frequently strange religious words and themes. In the home, the freewriters were starting to throw perplexed looks to each other. Noone wanted to raise the topic openly since that notorious day when..

This "church galore" was a bunch of my ideas from which I should have picked one and expanded it in a freewrite. Usually I work like this. I'm too tired today so I put them all there in one shot. I still had fun, have to say.. which one do you prefer? :-D

Sort:

Oooh, you gave us a peak into your madness. Thank you...I think. 😁

Hahaha I liked the final "I think" 😂 I'm back home, you should see me more often.. this is not a menace! (I think) 🤣

Fresh take on different church ideas!

Thanks to @wordymouth, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.

Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!

Thank you @sneakyninja! .. I'm sorry for my delayed reply but i was at a martial art seminar, you will understand me.. being a ninja 😉

Lol. How did the seminar go?

Good and bad, they're perfectionists but too rigid mentally .. the grandmaster is one level beyond all of them but to get his teachings you should basically relocate to Tokyo. Thanks for asking and keep up the great work with SBI. I'm advertising it a lot between freewriters :-D

Frustrating when people allow success to create rigidity. It's working, why change it? Well... just because it works doesn't mean there is no room for improvement!

Amen brother!

Yes, I also liked the the free range of the various things "church" has meant to you and / or the character of the person who wrote this piece. What I imagined from this was a small town where the church was a center of many people's lives - bringing many stages of memories and emotions.
A lot to put into this. Very nicely done.

Thanks Dennis It came out quite personal, I'm learning from your comments .. an example of something that you write all in one shot, thinking it's something, and instead you discover it went in a whole different direction.

Your "church galore" was a breath of fresh air and I loved it! Tip!

Thank you dear friend! I tried to keep it smooth and various..thanks for the prompt delivery too! :-)))

I think this kind of free association is a perfect freewrite...

The "tired" ones are the most spontaneous ones in the end 😉

I liked this! It is a welcomed change from all the other freewriters. Your thoughts get in the open more and you expose yourself and your opinions, and since we are all little stalkers inside, this is great! 💚

It wasn't really about myself or my opinions, hence I'm not entirely sure to understand what you are referring to..but thanks!

Did you write this yourself or did you copy paste it? You wrote it, hence, you had that on your mind at the time. Your choosing and not being able to choose and the short stuff you had as ideas speak for itself. I hope I was more clear now :) I just enjoy reading posts when people dont know what to write. It seems more personal.

You wrote someone "copy paste" in his own blog about his own material? Talking about escalation of conflict! Do you know that even mentioning that here on steemit is worse than killing a unicorn? 😂 :-P sorry im a sincere person and if I don't get a comment meaning I just ask! Now I got it and thanks again! Dont take me bad 😉

I am so sorry :) I just wanted to make a point that this WAS your work and YOUR thoughts and that is the reason why I love it. Common don't accuse of killing unicorns :( I love unicorns! I am glad you understand me now. Have a great day 💚

You too dear have a gorgeous day ..thank you always for stopping by.. sometimes it's not easy to understand each other in the small space of a comment ..peace and love
for freewriting unicorns! 🦄💚

Should have picked one? Nah, I like how you chose to just let your ideas flow out. That's another reason why our group is so wonderful! You were tired and that's what you felt like writing (plus you can always pick one and expand on it later when you're in the mood). :) Honestly, I would be interested in reading aa expansion on all of these ideas. If I were to pick one, I think my favorite is the one with the children and the tree. (Though it is hard to resist the pull of a good bit of Old Steemians Home madness!)

I think that was my favorite too, I had a lot of crushes for little girlfriends when I was a child hahah .. but probably I would have opted for a Stephen King freewrite, or the steemhome one.. they're always those that make me run rampant on my crazy akward narrative vein 🤭 Thanks always for visiting my posts my friend! This evening I'll start a small freewrite contest and I hope it will take further fun and playfulness 😜

I love them all just as written. I love when you show you are human :D and share with us your thought process on how you go about writing your stories.

So I pick just one, This ONE. The one you wrote while too tired to censor your thoughts and gave us a glimpse into your soul if only for a moment before the mask of f3nix went back on <3

Your comment made me think a lot. I'm personally a very huge supporter of the need to abandon our masks and be authentic. Our masks most of the times are just the symptoms of the sick society we live in.. I love to write about fiction but when we're together have no doubts that I mean what I say, my friend 😊 Thank you for the Valentine emoji.. it's super cute and It was the first thing i saw when awakening this morning, I got in a good mood instantly!!

My dear friend @f3nix, You never wear a mask in comments or when we speak. I have never thought that for one minute. Just so we are clear.

In your writing, you hold yourself to a certain standard. A very high standard. Your stories are a marvel to read. Always!

The 'mask' you wear while writing when tired, slips off, like in this story.

Your writing is still a marvel to read but The 'F3nix' I know shines through a bit more in your stories when you are tired.

I forget English is your 2? 3? language. I hope this clears up what I meant about the 'mask'

What can I say.. I will always write when tired if I can have beautiful comments like yours! 😁😉 Thank you, you really described me so well and from your words I understand that I can consider you a true friend who's sharing with me this great adventure!

I would say that Church existential is probably closest, as in, you become a church unto yourself. This is the default church for those who find nothing better out there, no truth that is greater than their own. Even with the demons and with your own problems and faults, at least it is the demons that you know and the faults that you have already learned to live with. Why should you go somewhere else and have to fight someone else's demons and deal with the faults of others? When we begin looking into religion we are immediately confronted with numerous lies, hypocrisies, and extortion through our fear of the unknown. So if we can't trust, depend on, or put our faith in anything else, then we default to faith in ourselves and in our own understanding. We develop a code of ethics that fits our lifestyle and works for us and we try to stay within the moral boundaries that we have set for ourselves and try to do good in the world as we understand good.

I tried that one time but I could never measure up to my own standards, much less those of others. I was constantly in a losing battle against those demons, and what I saw as true and good didn't always turn out to be so good. So I had to go out looking again, this time I looked a little harder and since I had already made a mess of things I was a little more motivated to find Truth. ;)

Deacon thank you for your insightful comment and the time you took for sharing your thoughts. I think that It would have been better to say that we are the temple of God, as He made us in his image and likeness and He can live within us if we know how to receive Him in our heart. I think too that noone is sufficient/enough for himself and those that think so will walk a path full of the dangers of relativism and leak of values. About the lies and hypocrisies I just have faith in the Bible and try to use always my head, which means that I try to not accept passively but reason over my ethical choices and system of values. For the remaining part, I remember myself to be humble and pray because Im far from being a theologist and I think that a faith made of simplicity is the best one. In the end God knows us better than ourselves. These at least are my intentions, then in real life I should be way more constant! Your research is very important and I think that this attitude has to endure a lifetime and is essential for a Faith which is alive.
