Some Change - Kindness
"Spare some change?"
His voice was hoarse, barely rising above the newspaper scratching across the sidewalk in the wind.
She stopped.
He looked up to meet her eyes, and she saw it. Beneath the dirt, beneath the layers of weather-beaten humanity etched into his face, was a soul just like her own.
She didn't know how he ended up that way. She didn't have time to ask. She could only open her wallet and give him some coins. They were nothing to her, but they could help.
She wished him luck before she left. He smiled.
Luck had already found him. Just like that, his fortune was changed.
