My Easy [Ketchup] Macaroni Dinner Menu 🍽
So, this is my first time cooking with tomato ketchup. It is funny that I've never brought ketchup to keep our kitchen since I first started cooking and I always use tomato paste or fresh tomato instead of ketchup. Earlier this week I brought it home and started to cook something out of it. And yesterday I came with my regular menu which I always use tomato paste in the recipe. So I replace the tomato paste with ketchup....and it turned out nice too.
The only thing you have to aware with ketchup is that it is already mixed in with sugar so you don't need to add an extra sugar in. This time I am using the elbow which took about 13 mins to done. I use only 1/2 cup and it came out good size for two.
This recipe is vegetarian, However, you can use pork or chicken instead of mushrooms, if you want.
To cook the macaroni, heat water with some olive oil and salt. Once the water is boiled, add the macaroni to boil until done.
✺ Ingredients: ✺
- Cooked macaroni
- A tablespoon olive oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoon of mushroom sauce(or soya sauce)
- 3 tablespoons of tomato ketchup
- A teaspoon of ground pepper
- A tablespoon sticky mushroom sauce (oyster sauce, if you are not vegetarian)
- Half a cup chopped bell pepper
- Half an onion
- 1 tomato
- A cup chopped mushroom of your choice
- Some green peas (cooked)
- 3 cloves of garlic
- A stalk of spring onion
- 2 eggs
If you cannot find the exact same sauce as in this recipe, you can replace some ingredients with what you have in hand that has similar test and texture. Play with what you have and enjoy the unique result :)
✺ Direction ✺
- Warm an olive oil in a pan over medium high heat. Stir in mushrooms until they shrink.
- Scramble eggs and garlic in the pan but try not let them touch the mushrooms before the eggs are cooked.🍳
- Stir in bell pepper, onion, tomato, and green peas for 1 minutes.
- Add macaroni and every seasoning sauce included grounded pepper and stir.
- When all ingredients are well combined, remove the heat and stir in spring onion.
- Sprinkle with some black pepper before serve. 🍻
That's it! Enjoy your quick meal.

That looks delicious. How does the taste compare to using tomato paste?
@lashmi Thanks. I think with tomato paste the taste is a little bit more sour and intense which i like more. Plus, I can control the amount of sugar in it.
That makes sense.
I don't use ketchup much but it makes a nice base in a sweet and sour sauce.
