Cooking for beginners series #3: chicken tortilla wraps with salad and sour cream
Hey hungry steemians :). Here you've got something very easy, fast and tasty!
Perfect dish for hot summer days or the small hunger.
Ingredients:
- one 12-inch soft-tortilla (for smaller ones, take the lower amount of ingredients)
- 80/120 g of thin slices of chicken breast
- 30/50 g of corn
- 0,66/1,00 tablespoon of taco seasoning (alternative: chili con carne, fajitas, burrito etc,) it's possible to make your own seasoning, just mix: garlic-powder, chili-powder, cumin, a pinch of salt and pepper, paprika-powder
- 1/1,5 of tablespoons of sour cream
- some iceberg salad, washed and cut
- 1/2 of a small onion, cut in slices
- two slices of tomatoes cut in half (gives you: four half slices )
- one tablespoon of olive oil (extra virgin) or any other oil, that can be used for frying
Wich tools do you need?
- cooking-spoon or similar
- hotplate, stove or a campfire :D
- pan
- tablespoon
- scale
- small cups or bowls
- knife and cutting-board
Preparation:
- heat up your stove to about 120-140° C /248-284° F
- in the meantime, you will prepare the ingredients, wash them, cut them, do whatever is needed
- heat up your pan with max. power, then turn it down to about 2/3 of the max. power, add the oil
- immediately add the cut meat and spread it inside the pan, fry it for about 20-30 seconds and turn it around, give it a little bit of color
- add the cut onions and lightly fry them too,
- after that, add the corn and stir it for about 15 seconds
- now add the tasty, spicy seasoning, stir again, don't let the seasoning burn
- pour in a little bit of water
- boil it until the consistency is perfect like on my pic, if it is to thin, boil it longer, if it is to thick, just add some more water.
- It's time, to put one soft-tortilla for 1-3 minutes in your stove, don't let it get to crispy, you should be able to wrap it afterwards.
- coat the warm soft-tortilla with the sour cream
- add the tomatoes, iceberg salad, optional a few slices of raw onion
- after that, add the meat-corn filling, you do made before, on top
- wrap the soft-tortilla like this: fold it from the right, left or both sides and roll it up as tight as possible
This recipe can be varied with different types of meat and vegetables
This snack is perfect for to-go, just wrap it in thin-foil. Enjoy it cold or reheat it in your stove: 12-15 minutes, 80-100° C / 175-210° F, or use a microwave
TIP: Add this meal some grated Parmesan before you roll up the soft-tortilla, it will taste amazing!
