Introducing (Again, maybe), @RunBurgundy!

I've just made it out (barely) from an aggressively busy 6 weeks...

I have been feeling stressed out, slow (in body, and mind), and cranky. I was thinking about what had changed... Work? Nope, I'm usually awfully busy. Home? Not really -- I often spend the evenings on personal projects (@RunBurgundy, playing guitar, building my van, etc...). The people around me? Negative, they're just as supportive as ever.

So what was it?

It hit me. I haven't been exercising. I've been busy, yes. I've been working hard, with tools and such... But I haven't gotten that same level of cardio, or muscle coordination that you get from some good ol' exercise. I've just pushed through the first few days of my new exercise streak (yoga, bodyweight exercises, running, squash), and I feel fresh in my legs, lungs, and brain.

This got me thinking that, at least to me, regular exercise is an important factor in, not only physical health, but mental health as well. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case for many others -- or just humans in general. So with that in mind, I was wondering how one could incentivize running. Enter, @RunBurgundy:

I started the @RunBurgundy fitness (running and cycling -- for now) group! There's a few webapps you have use, but essentially the more your run/cycle (and the more the @RunBurgundy daily posts earn), the more you make! Every Sunday night (Pacific Standard Time), each member of the RB group gets a payout proportional to how much they ran the previous week:

Things are still pretty early on, and I'm lazy, so I haven't added support for the portion that gets paid out in STEEM, but we'll do something fun with it (maybe host a "race" with prizes or something). STEEMPOWER rewards will stay with RB so he can start voting on team-members posts.

In order to drum up a bit of interest, I'm going to sweeten the pot for some new members (and anyone else who just believes in people being healthier) -- and since everyone else seems to be doing it...

Glad to hear it! I think if we can get the rewards up a bit higher consistently, then it'll start drawing in some more attention.

Your right about that it's already been 2 weeks for me, and this one is almost coming to an end, yikes!

Ugh, I've been killing it in the field of training... but terrible in the field of posting on Steem… so I've got nothing in the kitty at the moment... BUT, I've resteemed this guy and I'll hold a similar competition of my own once I can rain SBDs down on RB.

Hahaha I was just thinking that I hadn't heard from you in a bit! Hard to find time to post on here, especially when you're doing a lot of training. Hope it's going well! You got some comps coming up?
