investing and grinding for $8 per week

in #finances6 years ago

Welcome to the 31st weekly installment of my series on Steemit income and growth!

Income on Steemit is generated by "investment" (the more Steem you have, the more you earn) and by "work" (earning Steem by contributing content that adds value). Already having invested my savings in Steem, I'm now working by uploading unique valuable content to the blockchain. My goal is to increase my average weekly income to 15 Steem.

Calculating weekly income

Considering income from accounts that I own, and that my wife owns, and accounts started as group projects with my funds (currently @drutter, @medikatie, @greatesteem, @hempy, @girlsofgreen, and @sativazeee), here's the running tally:

Week 01 - 0840 (+ ? ) Steem (+?%)

Average weekly income (last 10 weeks): +10.0 Steem (+0.91%)

Due to this post paying out, it was our 3rd best week on record, putting our running average up closer to 1% again. More interesting will be the graph, since it really visually shows the damage HF20 did to my growth (and probably, the growth of the entire blockchain).

Back to the linear "line of best average" (in blue)! :) Of course, not everybody can get a @Curie vote all the time, but I was lucky last week, and it couldn't have happened at a better time.

Essentially, we're averaging 10 Steem per week, and have been steadily for about a year.

Just for shit and giggles, that's 520 Steem per year, if we can keep up this pace.

And to put that in perspective, it equates to $425 USD, and represents pay for several part/full time contributors plus interest on my initial investment of several hundred Steem.

Keep grinding!

Keep grinding, keep waiting, keep contributing, keep sacrificing, keep giving! The good times (aka the early days) will be coming back soon! When bitcoin goes back up the site will come alive again! Steem on!! ;D

Hi @drutter. Have you considered getting involved in @steemhunt. I believe that adding value to a few hunts per day in the form of a meaningful comment would not be selling out your principles. I have found that by curating 3 or 4 hunts per day with detailed thoughtful comments, the @steemhunt upvotes have really helped my growth.

No bots, no paid votes, no gaming it by crawling to admins. just go to steemhunt, find products that interest you, check out the website linked and then make a significant comment. 3 @steemhunt upvotes on your comment's per day adds up.

Just something for you to consider my friend.

Thanks, hadn't heard of it before.
Is that why your comments have a bit of advertising on the end of each one?

Some of my comments will have "Posted using Partiko Android" on them. This is a mobile app you can get from Google play store (or apple as well I think) and its handy to have on your phone to keep up with comments and replies while away from the computer (and if you are addicted) I find it helps with engagement and staying involved while on the go. The notifications are great also, you get a notification when someone coments on your posts or replys to comments, and for other stuff, all customisable.

On most of my posts, I have a couple of banners for communities I'm in (by choice, I don't have to have them) and a referal link for Manna (a different crypto that is trying to promote a Universal Basic Income cause) These should be the only "advertising" on my posts or comments. None of that relates to steemhunt.

The website is https://steemhunt.com/ and aside from the upvotes on comments, you can also post hunts. I struggle with that and have all but given up. But the comments are good, but you only get the vote if you comment the post on their website. They also are giving out tokens for interactions that will become an SMT when they start.

This post from @steemhunt is a guide to what they are about, and this post a few months ago is a good guide from a user.

Just did a bit of maths on this, In the past 7 days I received payouts from 20 comments from the week before. The total SBD from those was 3.319 and total SP was 4.104. This is purely from the @steemhunt votes, plus an occasional appearance from @gentlebot. This is a random bot that auto finds comments (and only comments) and upvotes them. It seems to like me and I get a few votes from it each week.

Something to think about for you.
