Narrative, Steem Monsters Fan Fiction, and a Steemitbloggers Endorsement

in #fiction5 years ago (edited)

I've kept it no secret that I've had my eye on a new blockchain-based social media site called Narrative. There are several things I like about Narrative, one of which is that they don't just ask for support from their content creators. They also provide support to their content creators.

A case in point: I was browsing their forums and saw a post about getting a digital Niche owner card. The Narrative staff would create one and all I had to do was send them a statement about why I joined Narrative, so I did. They sent back the following card. Isn't it just awesome?

Narrative

As you can see on the card, I own the Speculative Fiction Niche. They featured this card in a recent email sent out, which is another way they support their content creators. Isn't that cool?

When Narrative opens for beta in March, if you're a speculative fiction author, look up my niche and start sharing your stories, content about spec-fic, and other stuff. Currently, the niche is involved in an election for moderators. If you're interested in being a moderator, and you've signed up for Narrative, head over to the moderator election page and nominate yourself. Alternatively, post your Narrative handle in the comments below and I'll nominate you. You'll earn additional rewards if you're a Niche moderator.

I recently learned that fellow Steemian @nickyhavey is also a Narrative Niche owner. Awesome!

Another thing I like about Narrative, and which I'm looking forward to, is their premium membership for publications feature. This could be a really cool feature in a lot of different ways. For starters, I'm considering how I might be able to use that feature for Garden Gnome Publications.

Here are three distinct potential uses for the premium membership feature for publications on Narrative:

  1. Literary Journal - I'm kicking this idea around. A literary journal could charge subscribers for premium literary content and pay the contributors authors.
  2. Branded Magazine - A business could use the feature to publish a magazine that attracts members of its target audience then funnel that audience into its sales cycle. That content can be free or by paid subscription depending on the nature of the content and goals of the company.
  3. Sponsored Content Channel - This business model can be supported by any type of publisher who simply wants to produce premium content supported by advertisers. Again, it can follow the paid subscription model of newspapers and magazines or the freemium model of online publications like TechCrunch.

Things are about to get really exciting for blockchain-based social media. This is just the beginning. Steemit paved the path for the rest and should get credit for that, but look for other blockchains to develop their own versions of social media. Soon, it will proliferate. You read it here first.

Enter This Steem Monsters Fiction Contest

@gardengnomepubs is hosting a different kind of contest. They take a Steem Monsters character card and ask contestants to write a story where that character is featured, but the story doesn't need to be about Steem Monsters or have a Steem Monsters theme. You're actually encouraged to take the character out of context.

Vote For Steemit Bloggers

Two days ago, I wrote about a DPoll where readers are asked to vote for a project to receive a $10,000 delegation for one year. I mentioned several projects I support but refrained from endorsing one. Today, I'm endorsing Steemit Bloggers, which recently changed its name to Power House Creatives (@Powerhousecreatives).

Why the change? It's become clear that none of the other projects have a chance to win. Steemitbloggers is in third place. With your vote, they could move higher.

One of the best reasons to vote for Steemitbloggers is because their express mission is to encourage and promote excellent content across social media platforms. Because they are cross-platform in nature, hence the rebranding to Power House Creatives, they can use that $10,000 to increase rewards for their members AND promote Steemit to users of other social media. The more that happens, the more it helps all of us.

Vote for Steemitbloggers in the $10,000 DPoll.

Yup, looks very nice, thrilling also.

If I were a goblin shaman, what would I...

If you saw a goblin shaman, what would you ...? :-)

I would buy if less than $ 0.05, probably. Sell if more than $ 0.08 and hold if in between.

Thanks for informative post, new platforms are springing up everywhere, almost as quickly as crypto coins, some will fly others will die, always good to get reference from those who have tried and tested @blockurator

Narrative is still in alpha -- late stage alpha. It will move into beta in March, which means anyone will be able to use it. Right now is a good time to get in, before the secret is out. I think Narrative has a real good chance at being a contender based on the features it has. Of course, we won't truly know until implementation, but you know what they say about early birds and worms.

This is an impressive post; not sure about taking on any more places to post though as steemit takes a lot of my time

That's always been the problem with social media. It doesn't matter how many great platforms there are, we all only have so many hours a day to spend. We have to be careful how we spend it. But I'd keep an eye on Narrative if I were you. It has the potential to disrupt Steemit's business model. At the least, they'll carve a useful niche out for themselves (no pun intended).

I will take a look at it. Is it called www.narrative.com?

I'll check it out soon. It's hard to keep track of so many projects. Good luck!

Thanks. Good luck to you too.

Hey @blockurator! for Narrative, is there any upfront investment of fiat? (:

Looks very interesting.

No, there's no investment to join Narrative. The only investment is when you purchase a niche.

@blockurator,

Good post, Block.

Could you, in a future post, explain PRECISELY what is involved with being a Niche Owner and a Moderator. Jargon. Paint a picture. "A day in the life of" ... I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't understand exactly what these terms entail.

Quill

Yes, I can do that. I thought I had done that in a previous post. It doesn't hurt to do it again. Thanks for asking.
