Steem Monsters Fan Fiction: A Day in the Life of Goblin Shaman
Here's a #contest anyone and everyone can enter. You don't have to be a Steem Monters fan, but it helps if you are. Every week, we'll post the image of a Steem Monsters character card. Your task will be to tell a story, in 1,000 to 2,500 words, that involves the featured character. The theme is A Day in the Life of ....

You should tell a story that involves this single character in some way without spending time on routine tasks. In other words, we don't care what he eats, where he relieves himself, or who his sexual partners are. What we want is an extraordinary tale of an ordinary day. Feel free to get creative.
Supporting characters, for instance, need not be other Steem Monsters characters. In fact, you can take this character completely out of context and create a whole new world around her. She can be the hero of the story, the antagonist, a minor character, or just make a cameo. We simply want a story that features the character. Genre does not matter, though we prefer genres that fit into the speculative fiction umbrella.
When you write about the Steem Monsters character, you cannot change its features. If the character has tentacles, for instance, it should have tentacles in your story. If it has special abilities in the Steem Monsters game, you can use those as you wish. Judging will be based on three things:
- How well you tell the story
- How well you incorporate the featured character into the story
- Whether or not the story is representative of good speculative fiction
The prize for the winner is 2 Steem Basic Income shares.
Featured Steem Monsters Character
This week's featured character is Goblin Shaman.

The Goblin Shaman is a magic creature with moderate speed (blue circle) and health (heart). It doesn't do much damage on the attack and starts off slow with not much health. As it increases in rank, its health and speed increase to a max of 4 (moderate by Steem Monsters standards). It also has a special ability to weaken the opponent, a debuff on opponent monster strengths. At upper levels, it gains the special ability to slow opponent monsters.
Given this information, use as much or as little as you want and tell a story that involves this creature in some way. Post it to your Steemit blog and post the link to your story in the comments below. Judging will commence on payout of this post.

I see these Steemmonsters everywhere. How does it work? Is it a game?
Yes, it's a game. You don't have to play the game to enter this contest. Just write a story featuring the character. Any type of story. But to play the game, you have to buy a starter pack of Steem Monster cards. After that, you'll want a few booster packs to beef up your team some, then you fight a few battles. That doesn't require much. Each battle has specific sets of rules and you put together a team based on those rules. Then Steem Monsters pits your team against your opponent's team while you watch the action take place in front of you with really cool graphics. If you win, you increase in ranking and win more cards.

It is a game, but we're hoping people will see past the game and tell us a story of the featured character. Any kind of story is fine, but we like stories of a speculative nature best. :-)
I never looked into steem monsters but it seems that it has grown and got really popular. I am curious to read the stories you will get for this character. ;0)

I really like this. I know nothing about Steemmonsters. Role playing games just not my thing. But I can look at an evocative picture, and I can research the history of this character. After that, the door is open to creativity. I may take a stab at this, just for fun!
The cool thing about this contest is you don't have to know anything about the game. Just take the character and do something with it. We'd like to see what you come up with. 😀
