Ecopark Theme Park.
This is my entry for the @beautifulsunday and @sublimesunday challenges hosted by @ace108 and @c0ff33a
A visit to the leisure and fishing park at south Brisbane in Queensland provided hours of enjoyment and lots of laughter for my husband.
We rocked up to the entrance and read the information boards to make sure we wouldn't miss out on anything. Prior to our trip we ordered our package online which included bags of hay to feed the animals with and seeds to feed the wide variety of birds.
I challenge anyone to be bored after arriving at this theme park which encompasses 8 acres of picturesque surroundings. There is so much to do and see but even if you just want to take a picnic lunch and get close to nature and animals that's an appealing option as well.
There are paddle boats, pedal go-Karts, giant-sized board games, jumping castles and a mini golf course on offer, which, in anyone's language results in a ton of adventure and diversity.
Ecopark caters for birthday parties, work functions, school excursions, sporting clubs and even senior citizens groups. There are four excellent Party Packages to choose from which means that there is something for everyone. They cover a four hour time slot but all day packages can be arranged as well.
This giant panda greets visitors as they enter the facility......or perhaps he is there to keep an eye on the gift shop.(lol)
There are plenty of BBQ's available, therefore it is an ideal venue for families and for people needing to relax amongst nature and be able to interact with the animals. The petting packages include bags of feed, use of all park facilities including paddle boat rides, jumping castles, swings and slides. And children can bring a parent free of charge.
Other packages vary according to individual requirements.
The coffee and snack bar has all the essentials for a day trip.
Coloured go-carts await keen passengers.
Our first animal encounter was with this friendly sheep. It was not shy and was very well fed. I'm sure it would have kept eating until we ran out of feed but we knew there were many more animals waiting so we tried to ration our supply.
We arrived early to beat the heat and very few visitors were around when we started looking around. Having the place almost to ourselves to begin with enabled us to have one to one contact with the birds and animals. On the other side of the dam there is a large outdoor chess set available.
The birds in the large aviaries were particularly friendly and came right up to us knowing we had tasty seeds ready to hand over to them through the gaps in the wire fence.
Some birds like this adorable corella called out to us way as we approached. His speech was clear and amusing and when we did get up close, we enjoyed conversing with him but in a very repetitive manner, in between munching on seeds.
When he saw I had a camera in my hand he turned his head to give me his best side view to capture. So obliging!
This is one of the fire pits available for the public. A winter visit wouldn't be a bad idea some time.
Billy the black goat practically jumped over the fence in his eagerness to reach the goodies we had in our bag. Unfortunately, the other goat in his enclosure didn't stand a look in as Billy (named by me) was the more assertive of the two.
The deer came right up to us also but we were running out of feed. Thankfully there was plenty of grass in their paddock.
The bantam chooks were beautiful, and their colours ranged from beige, white and black.
The Ecopark dam has literally thousands of fish available such as Barcoo Grunter, Sooty Grunter, Silver Perch, Eel-tailed catfish, Australian Bass, Golden Perch (or Yellow Belly) and Murray Cod. The fishing experience is based on a catch and release policy so there is always plenty of fish to catch.
As part of the fishing package, small degradable hooks and special environets are provided to ensure that the fish are not harmed in the process.

What a fun day and you could feed the animals. I loved seeing all the animals and birds. The sheep and corella were priceless. U&R
It was a fun day Jo. And the animals were amazing and amusing. It took me back to my childhood when I had a lot more to do with farm animals, Thanks so much for your visit and support.

Paddle go-karts. I have seen that in Singapore in the mall too.
I'll like to try one of those but it seems so restricted in the mall setting.
Hi @ace108 Thanks so much for your welcome visit and support. Yes.....I think you need a bit of room to get the most from paddle go-karts. They look a lot of fun.
You'll welcome.
What a lovely place to visit! Eco parks are gaining popularity more and more. It is so good to feed the animals.
