🦆Mandarin duck🦆
Maybe some of us know the name of mandarin duck because the mandarin duck or in Latin is Aix galericulata is a medium-sized duck that has a kinship with the North American Wood Duck. Initially this beautifully hairy duck is found in China, but now found in other countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Korea, southeast Russia, west England and Siberia. Countries in Europe know it through birds that are brought to the zoo or parent that is imported to be kept and made cattle.
This one poultry has a body size 41-49 cm long, weighs about 0.5 to 0.7 kg, and wingspan 65-75 cm. This duck has colorful feathers, and generally the male duck feather is more beautiful than the female duck. The male mandarin duck has a red beak and white moon pattern over the eyes, its chest is purple with two clean white lines, the color is very much different from the other ducks.
Whereas the female mandarin duck has a gray head, the ring around the eyes is white, the body is gray-grayed. For both sexes this duck usually has yellow feet and has dark eyes, to more easily we recognize the duck male duck is more beautiful with a female duck.
His wings are big enough for his size. This allows them to fly quickly out of the water in times of danger. The wings are large enough to give them the ability to fly fast through the trees they encounter.
The mandarin duck habitat is in swamps, rivers, and ponds in forest areas. They live in small groups in their habitat. They are active during the day and afternoon, while during the day they take cover or perch on the branches of trees. They stay in the tree cavity near the water, and in winter the female mandarin ducks their eggs in the tree cavity. Their nests are close to the water to provide insects for their children after they hatch later, as a starting meal for their children.
