The Engagement League
This league is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.
Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations over the past couple of weeks.
I've used some metrics (which is the fancy way of saying that made up some numbers) relating to:
- Posts (P)
- Comments - number of (C)
- Number of people spoken to (PS)
- Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
- Comments - length in characters (C L)
- Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
- Up-votes to others (V)
- Up-votes to different authors (U V)
- Self-votes - a small minus score for this one, sorry! (S V)
Note: Copy/Paste comments will be excluded!
Firstly, if you are placed in the table above then you among the top 25% of the league entrants!
- 396 accounts earned a score this week (387 last time)
- The top 100 produced 842 top level posts (854 last time)
- The top 100 produced 13183 comments (12813 last time)
- The top 100 produced over 2.63 million characters of text in comments ( 2.55 last time )
- The top 100 cast 28792 votes (37228 last time), of these, 95 were self-votes (108 last time)

Yep, having fun is definitely a necessary factor. And, It's cool being No. 1. Not going to lie. There's a lot of benefits just from getting out there and commenting, though, so either way it's a win. The more comments across as many posts and users as possible, the more I've seen people looking at my stuff and interacting. I'm sure you've noticed that, too. So, anyway. Show us up! :)
Yes the trails are important but talking to as many people as possible I think is Nice too, so many great people to learn.

Well, I might be among the few around here that really don't mind verbose. We're losing so much with no way to see non-verbals with just text that some extra words to clarify a thought doesn't bother me one bit. I didn't come of age in the Twitter era, either, where it suddenly became cool to say something in 144 characters or less. :)

I say that like all I want to do is be on STEEM (which is generally true, but there are activities I do enjoy and would rather do), but moving furniture around, which is my Thursday activity, isn't high on my list of things to take me away from STEEM. :)
Hehe!! I hear you! Well, just be careful with that moving the furniture thing and make sure you are wearing the back brace! (I happen to know so many do not!!)
As for me, I will be doing days and nights this week. The mix really toys with my life and sleep! :) But, it keeps me in a lifestyle that I have become accustomed to. (A roof over my head! LOL)

I'm glad to be back up there, even if it is just for a week, knowing full well that neither you or Melinda are currently involved. So, it's cool, it's just not as cool as would be if you both had been there. As it is, I flat out need more numbers to be any actual competition.
Since it sounds like it's going to be a while before you're back and taking your rightful place at the head of the line, as tattoodjay has been saying, the rest of us, including me, will just have to keep seats warm for you two. :)

It sounds like you already know my thoughts on SBI, and Asher certainly does. I very much appreciate the thought, though (it's hard to say no and not feel like I'm being ungrateful), but if you haven't already signed me up because I wasn't fast enough to decline, I think giving it to third place would be an excellent idea.
I do have to say, though, you and the others sponsoring SBI really are helping to expand the rewards for the Engagement League. I do admire the sentiment. Those who want it should definitely get it. :)

Back out of the top 20 again... it was nice, for as long as it lasted (1 week, lol). From the stats, I take with me that I should be limiting my comment length, and spread what I have to say over more comments than I do now.
1 self-vote, but it was a deliberate one. I can't exactly remember what comment of mine I upvoted, but I do remember I thought it was worth to give up my 0 self-vote score :0)

Thanks for the mention. I'm glad someone knew I might make it back to the Top 3 at some point. Hanging around in the Top 25 or lower has been my lot for quite a while. So, I know what that's like. :)
On a side note, since you bring it up, I don't know if would limit the characters per comments, but the issue becomes trying to write more comments versus writing more characters per comment. And of course, there's other factors involved.
We all do what we can do, right? My main thing has been trying to strike that balance between doing well in the league and seeing after my own objectives. Last week, I think I found that balance. This week, who knows? :)
Balance is still what I'm looking for, both on SteemIt and in 'real life'. In both cases, it appears there's still a long way to go :0)
Right now I'm actually focusing more on not getting demotivated by not finishing high up in the list, than on getting up higher in the list - if that makes any sense, lol
I know I'm doing what I can under the given circumstances, and that should be enough... if only I wasn't so competitive. That would make things a lot less complicated :0)
Glad to hear you've found the balance. Even if you don't next week, at least you have an idea how to find it again.
There is a sweet-spot between lots of comments vs lots of text - I've been trying for that for a long time and although not perfect, the scoring is getting there. This week though, I'm not sure if I need to tweak the comment length up a little...
