Indoor Garden Update Part 9 - First Grow Since Cannabis is Legal...

in #dtube6 years ago

The temperatures are dropping outside but things are warming up indoors.

Me all frosted up after a walk in 30 below with picture of indoor garden below.JPG

This update on our indoor gardening project is focused on our couple of cannabis plants we are growing now that it has been legalized in Canada.

Our Mother plants bushed out nice and gave us a nice crop of cuttings which we will pick the strongest to grow out in the covered garden.

Plugs with Cuttings Potted Up into 2 Inch Pots

We potted the plugs first into tall 2 inch pots which their roots soon began to fill. We kept them on a heat mat and gave them a root stimulating fertilizer and were very happy with the results.

Before they could get stressed we potted them into larger 4 inch pots, still on the heat mat and under full spectrum grow lights.

Mother Plants Starting to Flower

The mother plants were put on 12 light and 12 dark (taking advantage of our long nights so we don't have to cover them to darken them off.) We are budding them out and they are starting to flower nicely.

We took some tips from @Elamental ’s Backyard Cannabis Farming articles at:

Salad Greens from the Indoor Garden

Our indoor garden is providing us with lots of greens for our salads and hopefully some nice bud too!

Very Inspiring, I've just started indoor gardening myself. Trying to get more greens through the winter. Nice to see others doing the same.

Where abouts do you live? We have a very short growing season here so I invested in some grow lights and carrying on the gardening season indoors. I'm very happy with the results for I can now have my fresh greens all winter long and I know what went into them. I refuse to buy them from the store when I don't know where they came from, even if they say organic, for I don't know what they've been sprayed with or how they have been grown.
Did you check out the other parts of my indoor gardening project. It covers more on the veggies.

I live in Michigan, the temp was 1 degree F this morning. I will definitely check out your other posts. I've grown some stuff indoors before but not to the extent our family is now that we have the room. I've also lifted some plants from the garden last fall and now am forcing them for even more greens. Still learning though. Have you tried that? I've got Collard, and some Swiss Chard. There's definitely a little learning curve.

Yes, that was the first experiment I did in my indoor gardening project was digging out some plants from the garden and growing them indoors. It's in one of my first posts in the series. They did very well and gave me lots of fresh greens.

Oh awesome! I can't wait to grow some when they legalize it here. I think Texas will be the last place on Earth for it though 😂

Those are huge!

We felt like it was sure time to get it legalized here and I'm sure it won't be long before it's legalized all through the States too. We're pretty happy with the results so far but it's quite a learning curve and I'm pulling in all my gardening expertise to see if we can get a good finished product.

Oh my that looks sooo cold!! Amazing how your green house is rocking, thanks so much for the inspiration!

You're welcome! This is a new thing with Cannabis just being legalized in Canada so it's an experiment, but I'm happy with the results so far.
