You have such a nice voice and you speak so clearly! Great reading! :) I'm glad that you got such motivation to cross your comfort zone and do something what you normally wouldn't like to do :)

I also like the story. It's short but it has everything what it should have :) There is a scary part and a hope. She doesn't lose her hope even though the situation doesn't look the best for her..and I sense that it also doesn't end very well for her..

Thank you for sharing and happy reading on air! :)

Thank you!! 😊 I'm glad that you liked and enjoyed it.

In my imagination the story doesn't end well for Marie at all. But it's open-ended 😊 the reader or listener can decide what happens next. 😃

No drill would prepare us for something like this.
"Test", "normality", and "contractual obligations", key words that resonate here.
We are always put to the test by a society that insists on reminding us that part of what makes us human, civilized, is our capacity to remain calm and to orderly follow instructions and perpetuate normality, whatever that may be.
Like most speculative fiction suggest, normality is abnormal, is suspect.
Corporations and governments own us; they can do with us what pleases them and on top of that they demand patience, civility and normality.
In our case, they demand dialogue. In the meantime, Paul-like creatures approach menacingly, we are suphocating, and the building is falling apart; but we are supposed to remain calm and remember our contractual obligations with law and order.

You are very insightful :) Thank you for reading so deep into the story! I particularly agree with the following line:

In the meantime, Paul-like creatures approach menacingly, we are suphocating, and the building is falling apart; but we are supposed to remain calm and remember our contractual obligations with law and order.

But your entire comment is incredibly shrewd. Thank you.

Thank YOU for such a thought-provoking story.

Nice work, @kaelci! I enjoyed hearing you read. 😊

interesting way to tell a story. Those who want to listen do so and those who want to read can do so. well done friend.

Thank you! Were you a listener or a reader? :D

Reader, I have tried other times with audiobooks but I can not concentrate. so I prefer to read.

I'm the same - I prefer to read rather than listen :) ~ thank you for reading! :D

nice story👍👏

You did a great job with the story and the video reading. You managed to convey the tension and panic within a short story, which is not easy to do. I feel Marie's panic as she is trapped against the locked door. Paul has apparently evolved very quickly into some sort of monster. It seems as if the helicopters will be focusing more on "containment" rather than "rescue". A probably reaction of corporate entity protecting itself rather than it's employees. Congratulations on the Curie vote!

Thank you :) I was sitting here for ages, debating whether or not to press the submit button... I'm glad I did! Worried that my voice was too monotonous, or that I sounded like a child (I always get mistaken for a child on the phone - "hello sweetie, is your mummy or daddy there?", and the first time I spoke on the PA speaker at my old job was interesting... a colleague ran in and giggled, "You sound like a five year old!")

I'm glad you enjoyed the story! :D
