A Day in The Lives Of Puravidaville And Dandays - A Short Film Debut - #fff #46steemCreated with Sketch.

in #dtube5 years ago

This is crazy you guys, just three weeks ago I was explaining how I’m teaching myself to use iMovie so we can record @puravidaville in the kitchen. Here I am now, releasing my first short film, my first film of any length actually—I’m as surprised as you are.

What happened was, earlier this week, we caught a bus ride down to a private race track on the pacific coast of Costa Rica we kept hearing about from fellow expats. We were told there isn’t a bad seat on the beach and the only access is under water where we have to hold our breath and swim through a cave to get there. Well, we finally went and I filmed the whole thing. Afterward, we stopped by two markets so Pura could put together a @foodfightfriday contender and then we got caught watching the eye of a storm—I filmed all of that too.

Then I heard about this new #contest in its third week on the #blockchain hosted by @ddaily and they already have six reputable sponsors—I’m in!

I really don’t know how much time I have invested in this #video—not hours, days. To post this three minute #movie, I recorded seven and a half hours worth of feed over a three day period and I lost count on all of the sound effects I used somewhere around 55 including several I did with my mouth. Those are just effects, though, I still needed some drum & bass around 180bpm and who better to ask for #original drum & bass than @nickyhavey?

So, I reached out to him. We talked back and forth for a few days and, once he had a better understanding of what I was trying to achieve, he gave me permission to use this track called Discovery—written and produced by Nicky Havey. Thanks, Nicky!!

Alright, I think that’s plenty of introduction without spoiling the film. Please click on the video link and check out what I’ve been getting myself into lately—let me know what you think. Welcome to @foodfightfriday!

Great work homie!! I love the race car sound effects as the crabs were scurrying by. I died laughing when the one got stepped on then popped back up and took off again. Too funny!!! Watching that storm come in at the end was super cool!! Now I know what a day is like in your neck of the woods. Trust me you don’t want to see mine. Lol

Hey what’s up Splatts? Right on, sir, I’m glad you liked this one. I had a good time putting it together. I think just about everyone has mentioned the crab getting stepped on, pretty cool huh? I didn’t notice until I was editing—how fun!

But my response has been, “did you see the thing that came into the screen just before the crab got stepped on? I drew a red circle around, I have no idea what it was. It comes in from the air, on the top right of the video, lands on the ground and takes off—yeah, I have no idea what that thing was. Weird.

Thanks for stopping by @jlsplatts. Enjoy the rest of your weekend brother.

Damn sweet first vid! I know exactly what you are talking about with spending not hours but days editing.
Keep pumping out the vids. You will get faster and better. This certainly fit the action category for the 5 reel good!

Good morning, how’s it going in Guatemala this fine Sunday—ya’all got big plans today?

I’m glad you liked this one, I enjoyed teaching myself how to do this. I dig the idea you guys put together with this 5reelgood, there’s plenty of people on this platform who are filming—they just need a stage.

I doubt I’ll be doing anymore of these, I get a lot more attention when I’m writing, to spend countless hours on this project like I did for little attention isn’t encouraging.

Thanks for stopping by @buttcoins! I hope you’re having a great weekend.

Hey @dandays yeah things are good in Guatemala! My plans for today is relax with kids and missus. Sunday is family day. So we will probs go swimming and a little hike.

As to attention. First off. 13 unique comments is good attention in my book lol.

What I can say is I’ve made 125 videos since Jan 2018. I spent months getting little attention/ earnings. Then dtube started noticing me. Now I tend to be 50/50 on dtube upvote. So for me the switch from writing vlogs to pretty much only vids was also a long transition as my first 6 months on steemit was all writing vlogs.

Honestly I think no matter what medium people choose to share there post with.... it’s more just consistency.

We will always do what we want to do in this life. Im not trying to be pushy but my suggestion would be.... Stay on the horse for another video... even if it will never be your main thing. Use the skills you learned again right away. Making another and learning from whatever mistakes you made in this vid will cement some of the mechanisms of using iMovie.

As these skills are great for memories later.. even if nobody pays attention to my vids. My family and I will watch 10 years from now.

But what do I know. I just got addicted to making the vids.

If you ever wanted to join Ddaily discord. Just say. Also lots of friendly peeps to help with video questions like myself.

Big love to you in all endeavors!!

Yay!! You did a really great job with this... There are alot of great views there, and you captured them so well.... I love the view from the beach and underwater shots as well.... and oh, that food looks yummy...

I believe you will only get better with continuous practice. Great job!!

Thanks for watching Audrey, you’re always so sweet and nice. The sunset at the end is the one I was telling you about a little while ago.

I’m not sure how many more of these I’ll do but I did have fun with this one. I’m glad you liked it, I hope you’re having a great week—don’t be such a stranger ya hear?! 😉

Thanks for stopping by @audreybits.

Great journey and experience.
You have done a lot of work.
Bravo!
'Someone step on cancer, but it came up again and disappeared.

Alright, eii! How’s it going sir! About all of the work—thank for you noticing, it was quite a bit, that’s for sure!

I’m glad you liked this one, I’m sure there will be more to come. Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for stopping by @eii.

Here I am after just telling @puravidaville how much I dig her sub-60-second vids and then I actually watch a full 3-minute @dandays original. The speedy crabs were pretty engaging, so that kept me watching through to the end. :) Though I have to say I was so happy to see the little guy pop back up after getting stepped on. We lost Mr. Snuggles (our backyard bunny) to a feral cat this week, so my poor critter-loving heart can't handle any more losses. Great choice on using the master @nickyhavey for your jam. Love seeing all the talented artists collaborating for great content!

Tref, plants, hostess, marathoner, niece spoiling aunt and whatever other nicknames I’ve created for you since we got to chatting—what’s up Katie?! Happy Saturday. I hope you’re having a good weekend.

Thanks for watching, I’m glad you liked it. I’m not a fan of dying things either. Seeing a dead bunny like that is definitely something I’d rather not see. Ol’ Yeller really made an impression on me! 😉

About the 1 minute. She does some of those other social media things and I guess the maximum video feeds on the other ones is 1 minute, that’s why we try to keep hers under a minute. I had a lot of fun putting this together but the amount of time I have vested in it isn’t worth the hassle I don’t think by judging the reaction from the community. Or non-reaction I guess I should say.

Have I told you lately I’m glad we met? Yes ma’am, Nicky is dope! Give dksart some knuckles for me, ya’all enjoy your evening. See ya around, trainer-gardener extraordinaire!

Thanks for stopping by @plantstoplanks.

Ahh, totally slipped my mind about certain other sites limiting vids to a minute. Makes perfect sense. They cater to folks like me with a short attention span. Give me a good novel and I can read for hours at a time, but other stuff not so much. ;)

I have been hesitant to try to do many videos for just that reason--seems like it can be a lot of time and energy for a result that many might not appreciate. Well, for what it's worth I appreciate your mad skills on yours and @puravidaville's sweet shares. ;)

Hello @steemitboard. Let’s try this again. We’ve gone back n forth several times about my 7 day badge I earned a few months back but never revived, remember?

Well, as soon as I gave you the details and dates you went radio silent. Please look into it again when you get a chance, thank you. I’ve only posted 7 days in a row one time and I did specifically for that badge—but ya’all didn’t notice.

Thank you!

My favorite part was all the critters racing. Hermit Crabs, right? I should not laught, but lol on the one that got squished by a giant foot. Great sound fx timing 😂🤣

Hey good morning, sir, happy Monday! Did you do anything eventful over the weekend?

I don’t know for certain if they’re “hermit” crabs, I actually don’t know any of the differences in crabs but they’re definitely little crabs. I don’t know, maybe sand crabs?? 🤔

Thank you for watching this one, I’m glad you appreciate the sound effects, believe it or not, I vested quite a bit of time in those things—I’m glad you liked it.

Thanks for stopping by @pegarissimo—it’s nice to see you around the platform again.

I corrected that, your short film is very good, the storyline is very interesting, I also want to use imovie

Here is a link to iMovie. I’m pretty sure you can download it to a PC, it doesn’t have to be iOS. I’m glad you like it, sir.

Thanks for stopping by @ustazkarim.

Another @nickyhavey fan? I've used two of his tracks so far. He is good!

That was a joy to watch! I have to say, poor bug! Or thing.. he got squished! He... he... he...died :'(((((((

The sounds had me laughing, at full speed, it's quite funny :D

Nah. You must’ve turned away from the screen ms. foxy, no crabs dies during the shoot. Check it out again and watch it crawl out of the ground. It’s pretty cool actually. But whatever that thing is right before, that comes flying in from above the camera on the right—I have no idea what that flying thing was.

Back in high school, up until I was about 19, that’s all I did was turn drum n bass records. Then it got to where I needed to pay stuff like rent and turning records at parties was barely covering the gas to get there. I’m glad Nicky still does because original drum n bass is where it’s at!

Thanks for stopping by @foxyspirit. I hope you have a great weekend.

It's a crab! They are all crabs! Actually I was thinking that but wasn't sure since they were so tiny. I thought I did see it get back up but wasn't sure to be honest.

Be careful with flying things. They are sneaky ninjas and can land on you without knowing and who knows what they'll do to you!

Hey cool, I got a little history from you :P Thanks for sharing! Would you ever think about doing it again?

Oh yeah, of course. A few of my buddies still have turntables and, the rare occasion there’s a record bag open, I’ll mess around with them. It’s been several years though. As I got busy with life and stopped turning records, I never stopped having a passion for producing. I still very much so enjoy synthesizers, keyboards, drum pads, stuff like that—more than turntables.

Happy Monday Foxy, have a great week would ya! Your kids are lucky to have you.

That's cool that you got to experiment with all those things. I always wondered myself out of curiosity.

You have a great week as well and hope your monday was an awesome one. Thank you for the uplifting words as well. ^_^
