Full transcript:

We begin today with two posts from a Steemian who is brand new to the platform. Having just joined this month, user @artibeus begins his Steemit journey by sharing thoughts on his top 10 favorite works of fiction. It becomes clear that @artibeus enjoys science fiction and fantasy, but there are some other literary subgenres present on the list, so I encourage you to visit both of his posts and let him know your thoughts as well as provide recommendations for future reading. I personally added some of these books to my Amazon wish list, so perhaps you'll end up doing the same.

A year on the platform has come and gone for STEEM Engine newcomer @erikaflynn, and she shares a heartfelt look back at the ups and downs of her time on Steemit. Written in both English and Russian, Erika's blog entitled, "My Steemit Journey - 1 Year in search of MY WAY at Steemit," walks us through her journey, where vote-for-vote/follow-for-follow strategies as well as using paid upvote bots ended in disappointment. However, we also learn about her successes, which she says are the results of forming meaningful interactions with others across Steemit. Describing Steemit as "a window into the big world," Erika looks forward to more of her current efforts, which include curation initiatives across many communities, as well as Russian and Ukranian translation projects.

Erika's story resonates with those of us who have seen success here on the STEEM blockchain, and I implore new users to take encouragement from this blog. With a little work and plenty of interactions, you might also find yourself looking back on many successes in a year's time.

Homesteaders have a large presence on Steemit, and with the approach of spring here in the United States, passenger @goldendawne reminds any current or prospective homesteaders to be on the lookout for bargain sales. In her post, "The Homesteaders' & Gardeners' Yard Sale Check List," @goldendawne offers advice on what items to look for at garage, yard, and estate sales if you are interested in enhancing your homesteading abilities. On the list are items such as canning supplies, yard tools, pallets, and many other useful implements. So as spring approaches, @goldendawne says it best, "GRAB your car keys, your dollar bills, put on your yard sale hats and let's get going before all the good stuff is gone!"

The human brain has always been one of the most complex subjects of study. In his recent post, "Master Your Brain! How it Works?" STEEM Engine passenger @bitdollar provides a basic look at brain function, outlining its ability to learn, adapt, and grow. This post is only the first in the Master Your Brain series, so I recommend following along as @bitdollar seeks to help everyone unlock the potential of the human brain, not only on Steemit, but in every facet of life.

Finally today, passenger @derekrichardson takes us on a journey to The Devil's Chair, a rock formation located in the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California. The blog is a photographic journey through a region known as the Devil's Punchbowl, which features many prominent sandstone formations. Derek's post features many great images of the mountain range, as well as the account of his hike through the region. While it's probably not the place to go if you're looking for a drink, the Devil's Punchbowl looks to be a great hiking destination, so check out Derek's post and plan your next trip!

That's all for this week's curation segment, but in an effort to expand the horizons of the podcast, I'd like to introduce a new segment entitled, "The Featured Station," where I'll focus on a specific group that is doing great things on Steemit. The first Featured Station isn't a station at all, it's the STEEM Engine itself! Founded in December of 2017, The STEEM Engine is a Discord community dedicated to increasing engagement among its members, while providing rewards for undervalued content. The group's Steemit account is @thesteemengine, and its "Daily Whistle Stops" curation posts feature 10 of the best blogs shared by its members each day. If you're looking for a community to engage with, I encourage you to visit The STEEM Engine's group account to find out more information. You might just end up featured in future episodes of The STEEM Engine Express.

The STEEM Engine Express features five of the best posts curated by the STEEM Engine each week across the Steemit platform. The Express is produced by Ethan D. Smith exclusively for The STEEM Engine initiative on Steemit.com

What a great podcast, Ethan. Thank you. I like that it's a quick rundown of top posts, much like a news podcast. It came up in my DSound feed, and I decided to check it out. Your format is also very aurally pleasing, especially for a Sunday afternoon listen. Looking forward to hearing more.

Hey Josh! I'm so glad you stumbled upon my podcasts! Good to know that they're getting some exposure on DSound. I plan to continue this series as a way of promoting @thesteemengine, so you have plenty more to look forward to.

Do you have many things on DSound? I don't often find people browsing the site unless they are also contributors. I'd love to check them out if you do!
