Der Wolfsmilch-Ringelspinner ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Glucken (Lasiocampidae). Der Falter lebt an trockenen Standorten wie Kalkmagerrasen und Wacholderheiden. Er fliegt von Ende Juni bis Mitte August in einer Generation. Das Weibchen legt seine Eier immer an einen vertrockneten Stängel in Ringen ab. Die Eier überwintern bis im Frühjahr die Raupen schlüpfen. Diese leben in einem Gespinst am Boden und ernähren sich vorwiegend von Zypress-Wolfsmilch (Euphorbia cyparissias). Der Falter gilt in Deutschland als gefährdet und ist stark rückläufig. Gebietsweise kann er jedoch noch häufig vorkommen, so wie bei uns im Main- und Taubertal.

The ground lackey is a moth of the family(Lasiocampidae). The moth lives in dry locations such as lime-lean grassland and juniper heath. He flies from the end of June to mid-August in one generation. The female always lays her eggs on a dried out stem in rings. The eggs hibernate until the caterpillars hatch in spring. They live in a web on the ground and feed mainly on cypress spurge (Euphorbia cyparissias). The moth is considered endangered in Germany and is in sharp decline. However, it can still occur frequently in some areas, such as here in the Main and Tauber valleys.
