Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 01/01/19 > A new year ahead but I forgot a couple things that needed cleaned up from 2018

It never fails...

It never fails I was looking forward to this new year coming and in my haste to get 2018 behind me and get started on this new year I overlooked a couple things and need to put those to rest.

One thing was...

One thing was back in late summer around August I mentioned that the oldest boy had an attorney send him what the attorney called a “friendly reminder” that he owed a bill to some doctor group. That doctor group supposedly did something for him when my son buried his brother’s very sharp ax in his lower leg and he needed stitches at the local emergency clinic.

If you were with me back then you know the story, but for those of you who weren’t here is the quick version. I crafted a letter for the boy to send the attorney, making some demands of the attorney to produce evidence of the claim he was making. The attorney never responded to the boy’s letter for proof of both the claim or that the attorney was authorized to represent the group he said he was representing.

The only response...

The only response he got after mailing the attorney the letter was a letter from the collection agency that the attorney claimed he was working for. So that prompted a letter to the collection agency in which he demanded proof of them that they too were authorized to be trying to collect for this doctor group.

Both letters the boy sent he sent certified mail and he gave each of them thirty days to respond with the proof and send it certified mail. Neither of these two parties ever did respond as required. The boy also included in the letter that if they failed to respond within the time frame as outlined any further communication from them would be considered harassment and could very well prompt charges against them for such.

I did bring you...

I did bring you folks up to speed on the attorney not replying but I failed to mention later that the collection agency never responded as well. He hasn’t gotten another communication from either of them since he sent each of them a letter demanding proof.

It was pretty suspicious at the time when he got the letter from the attorney since he never had received a bill from that doctor group plus he had never been contacted by that collection agency either. I am not saying these folks were trying to run a scam on the boy but it damn sure has the scent of scam when you get right down to it.

So, this is just...

So, this is just a friendly reminder to check and verify when a “friendly reminder” shows up in your mailbox from an attorney saying that you need to pay some collection agency about a bill. Attorney’s must speak a different language than you and me because in that friendly reminder letter he threatened to file suit against the boy if he didn’t pay the amount owed within thirty days, how “friendly” is that?
I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be on that attorney’s Christmas card list. I wonder though if his Christmas cards don’t have Ebenezer Scrooge on them or the Grinch.

The other thing...

The other thing I was going to bring up has completely slipped my mind. Damn, I hate when that happens, but that does give me a chance to bring you up to speed on my WeKu experiment I said I was going to conduct.

Since I haven’t been doing anything on WeKu with any regularity of late I decided to just do an experiment to try and grow that account over there using upVotes from my own account. My upVote over there is worth $0.40 WeKu or somewhere there about. I don’t self upVote over here on steemit but there is a side of me that has a little devil in him and that WeKu place is a good place for him to expose himself.

So today makes...

So today makes day eight of my experiment and it really is a simple plan. I make a one word post and then wait until day six and upVote from my account. So each day I would be adding about $0.40 WeKu to my account. Well it turns out my plan wasn’t as good as I thought, it actually has been better.

I never took into...

I never took into account that others might upVote my one word posts. Yep, people have been upVoting them and were doing so before I even upVoted them myself. I did have one person come by and warn me that I might get flagged for not using “suitable words to make a post”. You know that person was right in one regard, I wasn’t using words at all; I was just using numbers.

I might also mention that the person who warned me is a bigger piece of shit then I am when it comes to milking the system. He waited a few days and then came back and plopped a big upVote on his comment worth $7.22 WeKu , so naturally I went ahead and upVoted his comment as well. I’ll take a piece of that action. That will probably piss him off and get me a down vote but I really don’t give a rat’s ass. That is a pure case of the pot calling the kettle black in my opinion.

I started on...

I started on day one with the number 1 and each day I went up a number and on day three that person gave me that “warning” (I wonder if he is an attorney?) so I decided he might be right. I went and got the Simplified Chinese version of the number one and the other numbers and added them to each corresponding day’s number. So now I am really adding value since I am teaching people how to read numbers in Chinese.

Yes, it is a little more work than I expected to do, but hey...at least I am willing to put some effort into it which is more than I set out to do.

At the end...

At the end of the seven day earning period the number 1 earned $1.68 in WeKu, of that amount I got $1.52 the voters got $0.12 Weku. My quick math skills tell me that those two numbers don’t equal $1.68 when you add them up but who am I to argue over where that $0.01 WeKu went? Oh, yes; I did upVote as planned but I waited until day 6 to upVote so as not to draw any attention to what I was doing, sure call me a sneaky bastard but that’s fine with me. I call a spade a spade when I see one.

The number 2...

The number 2 was more popular than the number 1 as it racked up $2.87 in Weku earnings. Day 3 and day 4 have respectable numbers coming in at $1,20 and $1.33 with my upVotes included in those totals. It is hard to tell what days 5, 6, 7 and 8 will come in at since there are still days left to vote and I haven’t added my upVotes to them yet.

All in all...

All in all, I think this WeKu experiment thing is doing “okay”. I really don’t feel as bad about doing it either since I am actually adding some value in teaching Simplified Chinese to those that doesn’t know the language as well as I do. Well not exactly as well as I do, but as well as the Google translate know’s Simplified Chinese.

I have never...

I have never been big on just posting pictures but I just might become big on those as well over there on WeKu. In the last year since I have been on here I have started taking pictures for my Daily Dose since I refuse to use pictures in the Daily Dose that are not my own.

I think it...

I think it is about time I start a recycling program of my own. In fact, I am testing that as well over there on WeKu as I posted a picture from my first “Will Eat BBQ 4 U” Texas BBQ review from back in 2017 of a really good juicy slow smoked brisket from Lost Pines BBQ in Giddings, Texas.

So for the moment I would say that the “experiment” is doing very well; not just “okay” as I said earlier.
