OK, I have to confess - I had NO idea who this guy was, until now.  And, WOW!  

After briefly being influenced by the impressionist painters of his time, and then being more influenced by the new "fauve" style, Braque and Picasso were the first two painters to start the new style called "cubism".  He was influenced by several of the other painters of the time, especially Matisse & Cezanne.  You can read his biography here.

There was another quote by him that I was going to use, but then after reading several of his quotes, I think this one actually works better with some of his artwork. (I may use the other quote in the future.)
