Daddy's Little Killer (novel chapter 9)
Chapter Nine
The results from J.T.'s exam was hard to believe. Tests showed her IQ
to be 137. She was almost at the top of the charts, which the Dr. said
was amazing for how young she is. He told Marcus and Maddie that
he hasn't seen many kids J.T.'s age, show that high.
At 4 years of age, J.T. was able to solve puzzles and equations geared
for someone twice her age, and then some. Just out of curiosity, Dr.
Brenn wanted to see what else J.T was capable of. He pulled a small
box off a shelf. In it contained a bunch of lego pieces. This confused
Maddie and Marcus. When Dr. Brenn saw their expressions, he put a
hand up and softly said, "just hang in there, and you'll see where I'm
going with this."
He walked over to J.T., opened the box and handed it to her. Then he
showed a direction sheet to Maddie and Marcus, before giving it to J.T.
The one he chose for her was geared for ages 10 and up. She looked
at the paper, focusing on the picture of a StarWars ship, a Destroyer.
Instead of her going page by page to build it, she placed the directions
aside, and started putting the pieces together without a second glance
at the picture. Dr. Brenn had set a timer to see how long she takes. In
the past, it had taken some kids upwards of 1-2 hours to put it together.
She had it completed in under 25 minutes. He was stunned with her
results. There were over 1400 pieces to it.
When they got home, Maddie filled everyone in on the results. There
were a lot of cheers and hand clapping. Even Aiden was happy for her.
Now he had someone to help build legos with.
Months went by after the testing on J.T. and she was showing more
interests in how a lot of things worked, or how things were even put
together.
Kimmie's birthday was in a week and she asked if she can have a bird.
She and grandma Becky, had gone to a pet store for cat food, and
when Kimmie saw the canaries, she fell in love with a baby blue one.
Concerned their cat may try to get it, they had a little talk with her.
Kimmie said, "I'm going to be 7. I'll take really good care of it, and not
let Blackie get it. I promise."
"Pretty Please? I won't even ask for gifts for Christmas."
At that, her parents both laughed and agreed to get her one.
Kimmie held up her promise, and Blue was well cared for. They were
unaware that grandma Becky had been secretly helping Kimmie
with cleaning the cage. Becky said to Kimmie, it was their secret.
After J.T. turned 5, they decided to let her start school. Mrs. Molly
enjoyed having her there. She was a little concerned though. She
seemed to hang out by herself, even though she was friendly.
Maddie said that J.T. is just shy and that she will come around soon.
A few months into school, Maddie got a call from Mrs. Molly. J.T. had
taken the class turtle out of its cage, and Mrs. Molly happened to
catch her trying to pry open the shell.
Maddie, apologized and said that J.T. tends to be curious as to how
things are put together, or how they work.
"I'm truly sorry about that. I'm sure she meant no harm. J.T. tries to
inspect everything that draws her attention."
"We will have a sit down talk with her this evening," said Maddie......
