Daddy's Little Killer (a novel, chapter 2)
Chapter two
Maddie is a big city girl, who's family decided to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Dallas, Tx. Her parents, both lawyers at a big law firm, decided to pack up the family and head west. With the kids all almost grown, this will be their last quality time together.
Life was already hectic with 3 teens, and a busy lifestyle, so they wanted to move to a quieter town. They finally settled down in Coos Bay, Oregon. The most beautiful trees they have ever seen, lush green lawns all around, and a beach close by, which the boys loved the thought of.
The kids have always been home-schooled, so there was no worry about them looking for public schools. The kids have always found it easy to make friends, especially Maddie.
She was caring and friendly to everyone she met. She was a vibrant 5'8", slender redhead. Her two brothers were always protective of her, even though she was older than they were. Maddie seemed to draw guys to herself, like a magnet. Because they worry about her getting hurt, they taught her how to fight, if ever a time came to need to.
Weeks later, after the family settled, Maddie went to check out the town with her brothers. They stopped at a little restaurant for lunch. The atmosphere in there was warm and friendly. As Maddie watched the interactions between customers and waitresses, she imagined herself working there.
After they ate and paid their bill, she asked their waitress if they were hiring. The waitress told Maddie that today was her lucky day. The waitress was also co-owner and yes they were indeed looking for a new waitress.
After all the paperwork was filled and the interview done, Maddie was asked when she could start. Maddie was so excited and replied, "Now ok"? The waitress/her new boss, Kendra ,laughed and asked if she was sure she wanted to start now.
"Yes!, oh yes, omg I'm so excited to start". Kendra shook Maddie's hand and said "welcome aboard".
Maddie turned around to sit down, before she passes out from excitement. As she turned, she saw her brothers staring at her, both with grins on their faces. She went up to them, hugged them both, and asked them to tell mom and dad. "I think we close at 9pm, so they can come pick me up then". Robert and Kevin both told her how happy they were for her.
Maddie has never had a job until now, so seeing her reaction was something her brothers don't plan on destroying. When they got home without Maddie, their parents went into lawyer mode, wanting every detail of where they went, and where Maddie was.
16 year old Robert finally got mom and dad to just listen. When the boys told them everything that happened, and the reaction of Maddie, their parents agreed to let her work there. She was almost 18 and just completed her last year of schooling. Mom said it would be a good experience for Maddie, to be out in the real world. Plus she had been wanting to buy a car. They couldn't be more proud of how the kids have grown.
Maddie is taking the first step into self-dependence. Robert had just turned 16, and extremely smart for his age. And Kevin is 14, but big for his age, standing as tall as his brother. Both boys plan to go into Law, like their parents. But Maddie wanted a less stressful career. They went to pick her up at 9pm, and parked in front of the restaurant.
They were stunned to see Maddie still sprouting her biggest grin, even after 8 hours. She seemed so happy, and as she climbed into the car, she started talking so fast, they had to get her to calm down so they could understand her.
"Mom, Dad, this was the best day ever"! "The people I met were so wonderful. I think I want to stay here forever".
All her parents could do, was smile at each other, sharing secret thoughts, of how proud they were of their little girl.
