Is Your Memory Betraying Your Intelligence? [Take This Challenge!]

Memory seems to be fickle and elusive, allowing you to remember the exact layout of your childhood bedroom but frustratingly unable to remember your girlfriend's phone number by heart.

Ring true for you, too?

Have you ever been to a restaurant and the waiter or waitress has taken the order of every person at your table without a notepad? In my experience, I could count these occasions on one hand. Definitely an impressive feat that garners the attention of everyone at the table.

I have a challenge for you.

Imagine you have an important list to remember. Remembering the list will impress your new boss and your new customers. It will guarantee tips for the evening and will surely boost your self-confidence.

I have that list for you to remember right now.

There are 12 items. All are names of tea blends that will be served to hotel guests. You have only just seen the list. You must remember them in order and you have just FIVE minutes to remember the entire list to recite to guests at your prestigious hotel. Once you have the list in your head, you may go over it in your head as often as you like, but you don't have time to check the list again. Your shift is far too busy.

See if you can recall them in 24 hours. Do you think you're up for the task?

Here are the rules.

  1. You have five minutes to memorise the names of twelve tea blends.

  2. You can recite them as often as you like after the five minutes, but they cannot be written down.

  3. The test is to recall them in twenty four hours, then once again a week later. Again, no writing down except for the one day test, then once more a week later.

Here is the list. It happens to be the High Tea tea menu at Alibi, Ovolo at Woolloomooloo, Sydney.

  1. Lime Pie
  2. Matcha
  3. Dragon Well
  4. Lavender Cream
  5. Tropical Paradise
  6. Rabbit Hole Chai
  7. Morning Blend
  8. Grey Rabbit
  9. Berry Bomb
  10. Ginger Snap
  11. Refresh-Mint
  12. Vivid Colour Changing Tea

Post your results in the comments below if you've got a Steemit account or if you're a facebook user, post it on the original thread.

See you tomorrow! (And in a week!)
