The Daily Sneak 5 June 2018 - with guest curator @paradigmprospect

in #curation6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to The Daily Sneak!!!

We reward quality content, AND content curators! Come for the crypto, stay for the community!

You can earn up to 5 SBD per accepted submission for guest curating The Daily Sneak. Submission requirements are published at the bottom of each edition of The Daily Sneak.

Today's guest curator is the amazing @paradigmprospect! We are always happy to feature his amazing selections and commentary.

The feeling of separation seems to be a constant theme throughout our lives as human beings. Sometimes we can witness how interlinked everything seems to be, other days we feel utterly at odds with the world around us and the processes in ourselves that gnaw away at our trust in the meaning of it all. Yet beauty, hope and amazing discoveries are just as much a part of being alive as challenges are - no ups without downs.

As these 5 Steemians remind us, getting stuck in a fixed view on the world or a static situation can lead to great pain, but it can also become a way to ultimately reconsider our own place in the grand scheme of things. As we encounter both beauty and horror living on Earth we learn how to see it all as part of the same game of life, presenting itself in endless varieties of form and thought that foster our rising awareness.

3000 km European Roadtrip back to my Birth Country

Steemit is a great place for all sorts of travel stories, and more than anything these stories inspire me to go out on the road and to meet kindred spirits along the journey. Especially when a travel diary comes with such lively and engaging photographs and impressions!

If you are thinking about travelling Europe and would like some authentic captures of its scenery, this article might do the trick! Come along for an immersive ride as @frejafri takes us on a magical journey across Europe; travelling from Spain all the way to Denmark with her little tribe, visiting friends and family, reminding us how beautiful and diverse Europe's nature and scenery can be.

The cause of our sufferings

This post is about sheep and people. The sheeple. About what makes the sheeple the sheeple, and why all of us have been sheeple at one point or another.

The analogy of sheep with passively-accepting naive human beings is an evergreen in alternative media circles, but @akdx shows us there is good reason for this analogy that might go deeper than we thought.

We constantly look for the "cause" of suffering outside of us, but maybe it all comes down to ourselves - and about what we choose to allow within our environment without sharing our objections loudly and clearly.

Mother Nature & Human Beings: Two Similar Entities With Different Manifestation

From a young age we are taught that nature is dangerous, and that as a human society it's generally a good idea to gain control over our environment before it takes control over us.

But is that really the "correct" approach? Are we that different from nature?

As @edave points out in his insightful article, nature is part of us and we are part of it. Maybe it is time we considered nature to be something to work in tandem with, rather than to fight against and gain control over. We have so much in common with nature that reminding ourselves regularly through articles like this seems like a really good idea before we get too carried away by our human programs.

To Me, By Me, Through Me, As Me: A Path Out of Victimhood

Few narratives remain as convincing and omnipresent in our age as that of the "poor little victim of circumstance" thrown into a world beyond his control. Whenever life seems to get tough, even and especially students of spiritual approaches tend to feel alienated from the unity of it all, singled out. We look for "reasons" that explain why this or that "always happens to me" and our ego demands answers about the state of the world we find ourselves in. How then can we find peace?

By considering the viewpoints of other people on the search.

As @solarsupermama points out, beginning the spiritual journey often goes hand in hand with endless questions about the nature of reality, the point of suffering and the apparent lack of fairness in this world. But maybe it's our assumptions about ourselves that make these states of affairs inexplicable, not the circumstances themselves. A great write-up for those in search of a grander perspective.

Gamifying Recruitment for Waging War

Some of humanity's developments of recent decades can be rightfully considered "worrisome".

As the human drama unfolds on Earth, and the theme of war remains an ever-present topic that demands our attention, we find that the military itself has not stopped refining its techniques for recruitment - that they are in fact amping it up.

Digital games of warfare and armed conflict have become such an enshrined part of our modern culture that we can find proof about wartime simulation games being used as recruitment tools for the 'actual' military. Let @cupidzero take you on a strange excursion into the in's and out's of making war fashionable to a whole generation of video gamers and its shocking ramifications for contemporary 'real-life' warfare. Mad respect for this article!

Conclusion

@paradigmprospect continues to show a remarkable ability to find inspiring and thought-provoknig content. Check out each great post and let their creators know what you think. For submitting these excellent articles and commentary, @paradigmprospect earns 5 SBD.

Submission Requirements

On to the submission requirements for The Daily Sneak:

  1. You can choose from 2 to 5 articles for your entry. Submissions with only one selected article will be ignored.
  2. All articles chosen for curation need to have been published within the last 5 days before your entry. It may take time for me to publish your curation, and curated articles need to be within the reward window when your submission is published.
  3. You cannot submit your own post for curation. Selections from nsfw will not be accepted. We also check for plagiarism and only highlight original content.
  4. Selected posts should have less than $50 in total rewards and have not previously been curated by The Daily Sneak.
  5. We try to spread the love around, so while selections from authors that have been highlighted before are welcome, they might not be included if the author's last inclusion was recent. Similarly, if you include two articles from the same author in one submission, we will typically highlight only one of the two.
  6. Be sure to include your personal bio for me to introduce you to readers, and make sure that each selection has commentary. This can be just a few sentences about why you think the selection is worth our attention, or what is great about it - something that will make people want to click through the headline and check out the actual article. English is preferred, but other languages will be considered as long as English translation is included.
  7. Please use this web form to submit your entry. https://goo.gl/forms/VH2MGIMEgqZmd9ef1
  8. Including image links to the source article is not required (and we prefer to leave some mystery if photography is highlighted and the article has only one photo.) However, we like to include images in The Daily Sneak, and not including any image links may decrease the likelihood of your submissions being published.

If you include more than 2 articles in your submission and not all are approved for publication, your submission may still be published into an edition of The Daily Sneak, as long as at least 2 articles are approved. This could happen for several different reasons. If you are unsure why an article was cut, please review the submission guidelines again. If you are still unsure, feel free to ask politely why it was cut.

Submission Reward

A brief biography of each guest curator will be included in the edition that uses their submission. In addition, each guest curator will receive 1 SBD for each article from their submission that is highlighted in The Daily Sneak. That's up to 5 SBD for each accepted submission!

Right now @thedailysneak's upvote is not worth as much as we are paying for guest curation. Why do we pay so much for guest curation? We believe that quality curation is very important to Steem. Paying our curators well encourages them to spend more time reviewing content and picking out the best pieces!
