March 14th -- Steemit Ramble #148 -- Curating Great Posts for You

in #curation6 years ago

Winter is fighting giving up its grasp. We seem to be in a cycle of melting and just as the ground is clear, another snowfall covers it. Spring will assert itself, just a matter of time.

Cryptos, including STEEM and SBDs are down in value. That is often a time when people pull back on posting. Posts don’t make as much and people get discouraged. We need to remember that what goes up, goes and down and vice versa.

Might not make as much now, but, when the price goes up what you earned at a lower amount will be worth more. That is called return on investment. When we create quality content, we are investing/mining STEEM. I intend to continue to grow my investment.

Onward to today’s rambling

3d printed home for $4k - the first permitted, 3D-printed home in America

This post was nominated by @crazybgadventure who said: “I just read this post and found it very interesting, and wondered with this type of technology is there any realistic reason now why homelessness is an issue?”

It is an interesting concept to be able to build a home from a 3D printer for a fraction of what it would cost to build a home with conventional materials. Will be interesting to learn how those homes hold up to the weather some countries experience.

Reflecting on the 100-day Poetry Challenge - Going Old-School [Day #7]

This post was nominated by @bex-dx who said: “Nobyeni makes a moving statement here in her step down from the 100 day poetry challenge. Her reasons may be personal, but I think they will resonate with many who feel pressured to publish on the platform before they're ready. For this reason, it warrants some extra support and attention.”

Daily challenges can be interesting, they do promote personal discipline. But, they don’t allow for or encourage the authors to create really good quality content which is so badly needed on the platform. Weekly challenges might be more effective.

All Alone (Double Tanka, Written in Support of @TARC)

The very talented @tinypaleokitchen has created another fundraiser in support of @tarc. A lovely poem overlaid onto a picture of a faceless, nameless dog in aid of getting homeless and abused dogs into loving forever homes.

FINAL UPDATE ON CLEANING UP MY COMMUNITY

With the support of @youarehope, Steemian @aydayodeji received $200SBD to put together the materials and teamwork to clean up his home community from the ravages of flooding and malaria. You may want some tissues while reading this post.

How To Discover Remarkable Blog Ideas

We all hit times when we have trouble deciding what to write about. @jrswab explores how you can overcome those times and come up with good ideas to write about.

Insomnia, Dark Thoughts and Counseling

Insomnia can be a life draining experience if it goes on too long. It robs our bodies and minds of the rest we need. Without that rest our quality of life can deteriorate. @deerjay writes about the struggle.

The First Issue of the Weekly Fiber Ramble

In an effort to find and build up a community of fiber artists on the platform, @fiberartists, has created a weekly curation post to highlight the best of who she finds. This is the first edition.

Ecotrain Question of the Week:What is matriarchy? What do you think a matriarchal society would look like?

@trucklife-family explores what a matriarchal society has looked like in the past and what it may look like in the future. Was interesting to learn that Ireland was one of the last matriarchal societies and was changed through the introduction of Christianity. It has retained some of it’s matriarchal feel in their practices. Interesting reading.

The SPL & SSG!

@enginewitty shares with us some of the activity going on on the platform and in particular the results of the International Women’s Day Poker Tournament and happenings in the Stacker community on Steem. Nice work @enginewitty.

Mining for water on MARS! Could it sustain our future colony?

@alexdory explores the challenges of finding and then mining water on Mars. Having done so, can it sustain a future colony. As we watch this planet being ravaged by our excesses, it does make you wonder if there is hope out there in the solar system for future refuge. It’s a long but interesting read.

Join the Curation Trail

If you’d like to be part of supporting the posts that I curate, you can join my curation trail. What that means is if you are part of the trail, when I vote on a quality post, your votes will automatically follow me. The trail name is PathtoSuccess which is another of my accounts and the one where I read most of the posts shared here.

You’ll need to sign up at SteemAutoand I’d recommend you use SteemConnect when asked to give voting rights. That makes sure your keys are safe.

Once registered, the link to the curation trail is right here. You can set the percentage of vote you wish to use in the settings once you join the trail.
