July 19 -- Steemit Ramble #103 -- Don't You Hate Missing Good Posts?

in #curation7 years ago

I really get a kick of the ignorance of some people. Several days ago I came across a post by @intelliguy about self-voting. As he often does, he examined the matter in a pretty balanced way in order to generate discussion. It did generate discussion.

I left a comment that I usually do upvote my posts but after the 30 minute mark. I do so to enable other curators to get the benefit of the curation rewards as I will get the benefit of the upvotes on the post. I also commented that with HF19 I needed to decide what percentage I would use to upvote my posts. Prior to HF19, doing 100% had little effect on my posts.

@calamus056 decided to labelled me as selfish for doing any self-voting. He’s entitled to his opinion what he’s not entitled to is displaying his ignorance of who I am in his labelling. Had he took a look at my account, he not only would have seen that I spend a lot of time finding and sharing quality content but that my account is far from a game changer for anyone should I have decided to use a 100% upvote on my own posts. I would gain a platform disabling 25 cents if I did.

So for the benefit of @calamus056 and the other ignoramuses who want to police the legitimate behaviour of those who participate on the platform. Get over it, I upvote my posts and do so at the same percentage that I upvote the people I share the posts of and a few I don’t share on the Ramble.

You ramble on about ‘freedom’ in your posts but think it is okay to try to police the platform. Your hypocrisy is stunning.

Onward to today’s rambling

What's it worth?

One of the authors I shared yesterday suggested I have a look at
@disarrangedjane’s writing, thank you for that. I had a look through this post and found some interesting writing. She wrote it in response to a post by @writewords after he quit his job. She’s writing from the perspective of a 40 something and her perspective that if you don’t cultivate your life before 40 you spend time after wondering where the time went and what next.

I remember that, and then after 50 I found myself thinking, “it’s too late” for whatever. It took me reminding myself consistently that many great people started and did great things later in life. So get off my butt and never say it’s to late, just get it done. Like you know, deciding to pursue writing as my life.

Minnow Support - Reaching Out That Helping Fin

It’s always good to see groups of people come together to help beginners and those who want to expand their horizons on the platform. The Minnow Support group which has developed on a Discord server is one such group. I drop by the server but haven’t been active as yet. Some interesting discussion going on when I do drop in.

A Social Scientist's First Impression of Steemit.Com - Part 1/4 Ideology of Steemit

An interesting post on a new, but experienced, computer/internet user’s initial impressions and analysis of the Steemit platform. @cyberspace’s second post is the first of what is to be four parts. Will be interesting to see the next three.

Parenting Pain Explained in Doggy Way

@mnkassier found the cuteness factor. What is cuter than watching animals and their young. @mnkassier has compiled a post of dogs, their pups and their antics. The videos are short and worth the views.

Portrait Illustration | Falling Petals

@chrsart posts a nice portrait sketch of a girl where the hair morphs into falling petals. Very nicely done and as I enjoy seeing in drawing posts, some commentary and preliminary sketches showing the process. Always interesting to see that.

Simply Potatoes

I have to agree with @generikat, there is something basic and wholesome about the lowly potato. It is a rare meal that I don’t have accompanied by potato. I most often opt for the baked although when they are new, boiled in their skins makes a simple delicious dish.

I also enjoy baking small new potatoes, using a potato masher to smack them down, put some butter, salt and pepper on and put back in the oven until the butter crisps up the potato.

Steemit is NO Easy Money - But it is the Chance of Your Lifetime

@flauwy writes honestly about his experience here on Steemit and addresses realistic expectations for new members. The platform isn’t and never has been a get rich quick game and anyone who thinks that they can just throw crap out and make money is going to be quickly disappointed. Anyone who thinks they should get a great following and good returns with minimal effort is going to be disappointed. But, read and heed what @flauwy has written here and you will be able to build a base to grow on, assuming you can actually produce good content.

KEEP CALM AND WRITE SOMETHING...(Part 1)

@yukimaru writes from the perspective of a person who writes in English as a second language but what he has to say applies to us all. Writing, especially good writing, doesn’t come naturally to most people but with patience, practice and perseverance, it can be learned.

It's Raining It's Pouring

@aboutyourbiz posts a reflection on rain as our lives and the results that rain can produce mirroring much of the results we get in our own lives. Well written.

Wrap-up on Day 103

Some interesting variety today on the posts. Took some combing as usual but that just makes the finds all the better. It’s nice to get back into the swing of posting more regularly. I am working on generating some ideas for other types of posts as well, as my stamina increases I expect to be able to work on them more.

Supporting and Upvoting

Let’s not forget folks. I’m sharing these posts not only because I like them. I’d really like to see them get support and upvoting.
