What is Your Steemit Voting Power and Why Does it Matter?
Yes, voting power matters here at steemit. The lower your power, the less rewards for you and the less rewards for the person you vote for.
The lower your sp - the more it makes a difference if you keep your power high. If you have a low sp value and vote with low power - no one is getting anything out of your action.
You are voting to:
- show your support for another steemer
- give author rewards to the other steemer
- give curation rewards to yourself
No - steemers are not happy just to see your name on their post for no value. Everyone wants rewards, and if your vote gives no reward - it is pointless.
You are wrong. Steemers are happy to get rewards. Votes for zero are of no benefit here.
As soon as you get higher power - you also get higher rewards. My vote gets attention at only 10 cents since so many people fail to vote and vote with no power. You can have this success too.
Start with a goal to get up to 75% by the each of each day. Many people recommend 85% and I stay over 90%.
It's true! If you vote less- your power will increase!

This is a good page to keep open for many reasons and checking your power is just one of them.
You can use bots if that is what you like to do. Bots are the reason I noticed this trouble in the first place. I get bot votes on my posts and I am very grateful to get them. But many bots vote at such low power that they have no effect.
Just turn down the frequency of your voting to gain more rewards.

excellent post, excellent info, thanks @fitinfun - I wish I'd known this a month or two ago. I'm learning. My posts, thanks to friends and bots are now returning $0.50 to $1 or more. My voting power is increasing, it still shows as $0.00 but it is running around $0.002 to $0.003 - I wish they would show the votes to 3 decimal places instead of 2 - it is really discouraging to be a newbie and see your votes don't seem to count for anything - but enough newbie votes at $0.001 slowly add up. I boosted your post because it has content that more people need to see.
I was right there where you are and still am so to speak - a little more success then I was having, but I want more to make this effort worth it.
The only thing I can say is just keep trying, commenting, and posting to group posts such as challenges and contests. Also leasing delegated sp had been my best strategy to grow in rewards and prestige (!?)

thanks for the link. I found and read it a few weeks back and picked up some valuable pointers - now it's time to read it again and move up another notch. I haven't done the leasing yet, definitely will do as the next step in my journey - thanks @fitinfun.
I think in your case - posting to challenges, commenting for rewards and connections, and the delegated sp would help a lot. You are active and able to keep up the pace, so get some benefit from thoughtful voting. I'm keeping my sp about 1200 and less than 300 is my real sp. I have three leases and I'll drop them down as I grow. A bigger vote makes a huge difference at this low level. Not sure about higher up.

Yes, it's very reliable. I know it will help you. Soon I will do a post on a lot more details. I love that place and keep it open 100% of my steemit time to keep checking it. Sometimes my voting finger gets out of control!

I have such a problem with voting too much. I was at 0¢ for the longest time, and I finally am giving people a penny. It's been a while since my power was at 100% and it might be 2¢ now at full power. So exciting!!
I have a question for you. If someone is trying to wait for their voting power to go up, do you think it's still appropriate to comment on someone's post without upvoting it? I feel paralyzed waiting for it to rise.
Yes - absolutely keep commenting and look at your comments as a gift. We only get an average of 2-3 comments per post here. Don't think twice about commenting without voting. I comment 30 times a day and only vote 15-20 - at least 3 on my own posts; so I do not upvote most posts I comment on. Don't worry and just say good engaging comments.
