🗞 YouTube Calls Crypto Purge a Mistake But Many Videos Still Missing

YouTube erroneously purged cryptocurrency education videos from its video-sharing platform this week but claims to have reinstated them, according to a spokesperson. Content creators, however, are telling a different story.

Responding to allegations that it had intentionally deleted content from cryptocurrency education channels ChrisDunnTV, Crypto Tips, BTC Sessions and others in what apparently amounted to hundreds of missing videos, the spokesperson said that YouTube made “the wrong call.”

“With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make the wrong call. When it's brought to our attention that a video has been removed mistakenly, we act quickly to reinstate it. We also offer uploaders the ability to appeal removals and we will re-review the content,” the spokesperson said. YouTube has issued near-identical statements after previous inadvertent video purges.

🗞Ethereum: Fears Vitalik Buterin Selling 90K ETH as $25M Hits Exchanges

Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin became the center of attention on Christmas Day amid fears he plans to sell $25 million of the cryptocurrency.

Records from monitoring resource Etherscan showed a total of 92,000 ETH (currently worth $11.5 million) move from a single wallet to U.S. exchange Kraken on Dec. 25.

Funds’ source “likely whale or Buterin”

As noted by blockchain analytics service ViewBase, the wallet contained over 300,000 ETH before the transaction and received most of its content from Buterin several years previously.

🗞 Twitter Bug Exposed Millions of User Phone Numbers

A security researcher was able to use a bug in the Twitter Android app to identify millions of Twitter users, connecting their phone numbers to their Twitter IDs. The exploit could expose failures in the company's two-factor authentication system and give other security developers pause.

According to a TechCrunch report, the researcher, Ibrahim Balic, created randomized lists of phone numbers and sent them to Twitter.

“If you upload your phone number, it fetches user data in return,” he said.

The user data allowed Balic to find phone numbers for many major Twitter "celebrities" including the private number of a "senior Israeli politician."

🗞Russia’s Central Bank Is Now Testing Real Asset-Pegged Stablecoins

The Bank of Russia, the country’s central bank, has reportedly started testing stablecoins pegged to real assets in a regulatory sandbox.

Elvira Nabiullina, Russia’s central bank head, said that the bank doesn’t assume that those stablecoins will function as a means of payment or become a substitute for money, Russian news service Interfax reported on Dec. 25.

Nabiullina noted that the Bank of Russia is exploring the potential uses of stablecoins — cryptocurrencies that are pegged to another asset to prevent the volatility associated with crypto markets. She said:

“We are testing stablecoins in our regulatory ‘sandbox’. We see companies willing to issue tokens pegged to certain real assets. In our regulatory sandbox, we are learning the potential uses of stablecoins but we do not assume that they will function as a means of payment and become a surrogate for money .”

🗞 Securities Regulator Says Crypto Investments Are Top Investor Threat in 2020

Cryptocurrency investment is among the top five investor threats for 2020, according to the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA).

The NASAA, the oldest international investor protection organization, has officially announced the top five products or schemes likely to defraud investors in the coming year. In order to provide the report, the authority surveyed state and provincial securities regulators across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Buyers and sellers are fighting on the resistance line at 0.124$ and the market didn't decide yet who will win. This line become a major level, as a support or as a resistance line and if the break is confirmed in one of the direction, I expect an acceleration of the move in the same direction so let's hope it won't be a break down.
