Imagine a Crypto Coin backed by a specific amount and value of Sapphires? Could i develop this as a SMT?

Sapphire Coin.
Last night i began to understand the potential of social network currencies, and began to imagine my own network backed by the Sapphires i mine and have accumulated. I have been prospecting for Sapphires for years, and have thousands of carats of Precious Gem Grade Sapphires.

Imagine a crypto coin given for every transaction with me, every comment, reply, every upvote all earning an amount of Sapphire Coin. A coin backed and limited to the value of 1000 carats of Precious Facetted Sapphires. Where a certain amount of Sapphire coin can be swapped for a specific amount of carats of Sapphires.

I can see the potential could be immense, as most currencies are backed by nothing but the people who use them. Yet my own currency could be backed by a limited amount of Precious Gem Grade Sapphires. The value of my currency could be pegged to a specific weight of Sapphire, like perhaps 1000 Sapphire coins equals 1 carat of cut faceted precious sapphire.

Value
The value of the sapphires are different to different people, and in different markets, yet the unit of 1 carat of Sapphire is a constant. Currently a 1 carat sapphire is worth $1500 retail, and i sell them for as little as $200 wholesale, the point is that the sapphires are transferable quickly at $200-$400 a carat, or slowly if i look for a retail top dollar sale.

Potential
I could see that rewarding my followers with Sapphire Coin could develop loyalty, and encourage people to give larger and more frequent upvotes or as a choice in exchange for other goods, currencies and services. The coin could be backed instead of by 1000 carats of Gem Sapphires, but by 1 million carats, i could make it a worldwide released Cryptocurrency like any other of the thousands already out there. Sapphire Coin could be a personal currency and promotional tool, or it could be a currency that is used by thousands of people due to the attraction of having a currency backed by a real world asset.

SMT
I see the way Steem is heading into the release of thousands of Social Media Tokens, built on the Steem blockchain. This is currently under development, and is due for release in 2018. The potential of these tokens are limitless, and they can be personalized for use in small markets. The ideas that come from considering the potential of SMTs, lead me to the crazy thought of my own Sapphire Coin Token.

Rewards
I can easily imagine that by this time next year, every comment and upvote on my blogs will be rewarded with a proportional or nominal amount of Sapphire Coin. Stick with me, and you may be earning a unique reward that has value.

I look forward for your comments, and ideas in response to this blog.

i will write a reply tomorrow as it midnight on saturday night now -- thanks for your connection.

no worries mate...i'll be late for an answer too tomorrow, because im gonna sit in a train for 7 hours down to Bangkok....
no rush mate, ive got plenty of time....
all good mate

Yes, of course i wouldn't mind selling you a sapphire or even swapping for something you offer. I fosseck(prospect) for them myself, and take pride in selling them as natural unheated and untreated gemstones. Nearly all the sapphires available in Asia and jewellers these days, are heat treated, and many are man made, even worse. I don't offer gemoligist cerification as it costs around $70 per stone in bulk and even more for single gems, but of course a money back offer is always on the table. I have always offered money back if people want it, but no one has ever asked me to take one back. In regard to you wanting a Tanzanite, i agree they are a unique and beautiful gemstone, you should be aware though that all tanzanite is heat treated as it is a dull uninteresting stone before heating to 1700degrees, that is acceptable as it the same for all Tanzanites. I will have a look through my sapphires this week and see what i have in round cut. My sapphires are found in Glenn Innes NSW Australia and are facetted in Thailand by a very good gem cutter. Thanks for encouraging me with my fantasy idea about having my own personal Sapphire backed cryptocurrency using maybe the upcoming SMT format. Who knows maybe i will do that one day. Good to connect with you and have a great holiday in Thailand. David

thanks for your answer mate.
when ever you have time, there is no rush..im gonna be kind of very busy here.a good friend of us is coming to thailand from switzerland in 2 days.gonna have a holiday, before we move to switzerland.i used to live in thailand for the past two years...
that sounds very good with your sapphires, untreated and unheated...
btw im fully aware of the heating of tanzanites.
we gonna be in CH by the end of november...
i can give you an email adress,if you found some round ones, you could send me an email with your stocks...we can exchange with BTC,if its ok with you...but it wont happen before early mid december at the earliest...a lot of paperwork and organizing once we are in CH...and get a decent internet...yeah,cant wait for it... after living in AUS and Thailand(thailand is not too bad btw)
anyway im very intersted...
thanks for you time David....

excellent enjoy your holiday - i am in no rush - i rarely sell them- i mainly save them for my retirement -but i am always happy to sell if someone is keen on rocks. Bitcoin is good for us both .. send your email whenever and we can keep in contact -- pity you arent coming back to Aus as i live in Sydney and would enjoy meeting you and showing you my enormous collection of gems and semi precious gems , i am obsessive about them obviously ... Where is CH ? Also no pressure , i am happy if you don't buy a gem as well , i am enjoying developing friendship --all the best -David

thanks Dave
it sounds good to me,i dont want to buy all your retirement rocks....BTC should increase as well(doesnt look it that way right now..lol..)
i always prefer to buy it from someone who prospect(mines) them, then from an onlineshop or here in thailand.you never know if its a fake(synthetic)one,im not that good, but like them...im learning..
we've been in Sydney last March....well one day I would love to see your collection.
i bought some little rough diamonds in the kimberleys from a prospector as you are.
CH is short for confederation helvetica which is switzerland.back to where i was born and grown up...showupmanathotmail.com is my letter box.im not checking it every day but we can communicate a bit more private there for the rocks.me and my wife are very keen to buy some for sure.
we keep in touch Dave, but as i said it will be a busy time for us until we settled back in,in CH and have done most of the paperwork which is necessary if you move from one country to another....
catch you later Dave and looking forward seeing your amazing sapphires..
greetings from Thailand
Urs
