The Epic Reunion of Brothers From Another Mother - A Kristyyd Contest Entry

A fellow member of the @MinnowSupport Project recently decided to host a contest in order to help spread happiness, positivity, and love across the Steemitsphere. Her criteria was to just post a comment on her post, but I decided to make a separate post altogether because I want to try to help her contest post gain some visibility. Here is my entry to the contest, a story about reuniting with my brother after over two years of not seeing him.

I recently took a road trip out to California with my best friend for Insomniac Events' Escape: Psycho Circus. The whole trip was such an amazing experience, but one of the best parts about it was finally being reunited with my brother Clayton. It was such a powerful reunion for us, because we had not seen each other since before I left California to move to Utah over two years ago. I had been back home for a few visits since moving here, but every time I came home, we were never able to make our schedules line up for us to be able to hang out.

Finally, this time around, I knew I had to see him. I had to make things work somehow, no matter what. At first, it seemed like this trip would go the same way as all the previous trips, with us talking and trying to set something up, only to have it not come to fruition in the end. We were originally supposed to meet up right as we were driving through Pasadena on the way to Glendale, but because of how excited I was to be home, I drove a bit faster than usual and ended up getting into town while he was still in class, so it didn't work out that night.

Then, we were supposed to hang out before J-Dubbz and I went to Escape, but things came up and pushed our timetable back by a few hours, so once again we weren't able to make it work out. I was starting to get really bummed out and starting to worry that this trip would end up being another one where I came home to California and didn't see my brother. But I was determined to make it work somehow. I had to make it work. I could feel that we were both in serious need of an epic reunion, so I put my intention out into the Universe and made it manifest.

Finally, on our way out of California, I made it a point to stop by his house to hang out for a while. We were only going to chill for maybe half an hour and get back on the road to Utah, since it was getting late...but I suppose it's a testament to how much we really needed this reunion, that we ended up staying for over two hours! Our faces lit up the moment we saw each other for the first time after over two years of being apart. We called out to each other with open arms and rushed into a long overdue embrace.

We ended up hanging out and talking about life for a while, getting into the same kind of deep philosophical conversations that we used to always have. The three of us were all hanging out and catching up and talking about the future for what seemed like forever. It was such a great feeling to be with my brother again. The only time we had with each other up until that epic reunion was our phone calls over the years to check up on each other, and every time we talked, we always mentioned how we wish we could hang out again, whether it's me visiting him in California or him visiting me in Utah. So for us to finally have made it work this time, was such a phenomenal experience for us!

Eventually, the time came for us to head on out and continue our trip back to Utah, and Clayton had to go back to studying for his upcoming test. It was such a sweet reunion and I honestly didn't really want to leave yet...but I knew that we had to. I was just glad to finally see him again. We promised each other that we would see each other again soon, hugged again, and bid farewell to each other, and that was that. We took the picture at the start of this post right before we parted ways. The rest of these pictures in this post are of memories we shared while I was still living in California.
