Prize Pool #8 - SBD Prize 02/19/18

in #contest6 years ago (edited)

Special Note: Our first prize pool pays out today around 5 pm Eastern Time. Who will be the WINNER!

What is the Prize Pool?

It is a daily sweepstakes that has a few purposes.

  1. Provide a daily SBD prize to a lucky winner
  2. Provide funds for 4 jackpot pools paying 10, 25, 50 and 100 SBD
  3. To have fun!

How do I participate

  1. Look for the prize pool post daily.
  2. At the bottom of the page, you will find a question. (very simple for daily pool)
  3. In a comment to this post, give us your answer.
  4. Not mandatory, but It’s how we pay for these contests, please upvote and resteem this post.
  5. Before the post pays out, you will be assigned a number. It will be added as a reply to your post.
  6. Once the post pays out, we use a random # generator (random.org) to pick the winner.
  7. Winner will be announced soon after payout is received.

How are the jackpot pools handled?

Every daily prize pools earnings are split 5 ways.

Suppose this prize pool post nets 5 SBD in upvotes. Each of the 5 prize pools earns 20% of every prize pool post.

Each prize pool would have 1 SBD added to it if the total SBD payout is 5 SBD.

That means the daily prize pool is paid for completely.

The 10 SBD prize would pay out every 10 days.
The 25 SBD prize pool would pay out every 25 days.
The 50 SBD prize pool would pay out every 50 days.
The 100 SBD prize pool would pay out every 100 days.

Who can enter?

Any member of Steemit can join, but keep in mind only the daily mini will be a sweepstakes. The main SBD prizes will be a contest that requires a little more effort (like making a post). The subjects will be about the homesteading/survival/self-sufficiency/foraging categories. Knowledge in these areas will always be a big plus in the larger prize contests.

Unlike the daily prize sweeps, the large prize contests will require some thought. We are looking for the best of the best. We'll be asking for your ideas on what to do or how to do something specific to the homesteading/survival/self-sufficiency/foraging categories. Knowing little about these categories can be a hindrance to your chances of winning.

What is the daily prize?

1 SBD

How is the winner chosen?

I will assign a number to each entry by commenting on your entry. When the post pays out, I will use a random number generator to choose a number. I will take a screen shot of the number and post it for everyone to see. The owner of that number wins the prize.

When do I get my winnings?

When the winner is announced.

Can the daily prize grow?

Yes, it all depends on how much incoming funds there are. Check the accounting to see where we stand

Note – Prize Pool Payout Announcements

Each day, when the prize pool from 7 days prior pays out, I will make a special announcement post with the winners name, immediately after the winner is paid.

Daily accounting

In the post for the daily Mini contests/sweeps, I will include a full accounting of all SBD earned on every post. You can track my numbers just by looking at my Wallet History. I want everything to be open for everyone to see.

NOTE: Accounting updates are only accurate to the last payout received. If a payout happens after the new daily post has been made, it will reflect on the next day’s accounting.

Answer the following question in the comments below to enter

If you had all the land you needed and the money to buy seeds and equipment to plant and harvest, what crop would you grow to sell?

Sort:

A brown rice, because asians are rice lovers.

If I could, I would cultivate CBD/THC Cannabis and then sell it to Medical Cannabis Patients! :)

Avocados trees specially to export them to US. Here in Costa Rica they are easy to grow and provide good shade. The only bad thing about them is that an avocado can hurt you, the roof or you car. If you plan well the layout you can have other crops, trees and livestock.

@raserrano you are #1

That is VERY interesting. I did not know there were that hard. You are correct in the fact Americans eat a lot of them. They are the latest "healthy fat" food everyone wants to add to their diet.

@fernowl13
I would cultivate sugar cane... From sugar i would get sugar and would distribute sugar to every1... So sweetness every where...

@chetan9 you are #2

There will always probably be a need for sugar, but a lot of people who are trying to improve their health no longer eat sugar in the USA. We have a epidemic of diabetes.

This is an interesting question. I currently do have access to land and have equipment to plant and harvest and the crop I am growing is ...... Hay. We grow an orchard grass / clover mix that the local horse enthusiast like. I also have two cows and two goats that I provide for.
I also have a small 2 acre field that I am rescuing from the weeds that I some day hope to grow Popcorn on.

My friend Moses.

@hhayweaver you are #3

Is Moses a camera hog or just inquisitive? Some of them can be so sweet but I have had a few run in's with some that were anything but sweet too, lol. Grandma's milk cow didn't want anyone but grandma to milk her. But grandma wanted to make sure we knew how to milk a cow. Betsy would beat you black and blue with her tail unless grandma stood there petting her the whole time you were milking.

He is a very curious guy and of course wants to lick everything (I was trying to get a picture of his tongue but kept missing the shot).
He is fine with me and the girls but he tends to push my stepson around a bit. He doesn't get as much attention as he should especially in the winter, so when I go in the pasture he tends to get a little "playful", and trust me it is not much fun "playing" with a 1500 lb animal.

NON-GMO Corn. The need is great in my area.

@beatitudes8 you are #4

I think Non-GMO corn would be a great one for Sotall to make available for next year. I can't eat much corn because of diabetes, but when friends or relatives grow some, I have to have at least a little, lol. I grew up eating it at almost every meal. Old habits are hard to break.

Interesting question, maybe I'd grow a lot of hemp... I think it was a heavily utilized plant that fell into disfavor because of idiotic drug policy but as policy changes, then it can finally go back to seeing a lot of use (or research, at least)

@motordrive you are #5

The laws are slowly starting to change and I know I have not kept up with the new laws, but I think it is still illegal to grow in most areas without a special permit. Its even illegal to grow industrial hemp used to make rope and such.
