Prize Pool #2 SBD Prize

in #contest7 years ago

What is the Prize Pool?

It is a daily sweepstakes that has a few purposes.

  1. Provide a daily SBD prize to a lucky winner
  2. Provide funds for 4 jackpot pools paying 10, 25, 50 and 100 SBD
  3. To have fun!

How do I participate

  1. Look for the prize pool post daily.
  2. At the bottom of the page, you will find a question. (very simple for daily pool)
  3. In a comment to this post, give us your answer.
  4. Not mandatory, but its how we pay for these contests, please upvote and resteem this post.
  5. Before the post pays out, you will be assigned a number. It will be added as a reply to your post.
  6. Once the post pays out, we use a random # generator (random.org) to pick the winner.
  7. Winner will be announced in the next daily post.

How are the jackpot pools handled?

Every daily prize pools earnings are split 5 ways.

Suppose this prize pool post nets 5 SBD in upvotes. Each of the 5 prize pools earns 20% of every prize pool post.

Each prize pool would have 1 SBD added to it if the total SBD payout is 5 SBD.

That means the daily prize pool is paid for completely.
The 10 SBD prize would pay out every 10 days.
The 25 SBD prize pool would pay out every 25 days.
The 50 SBD prize pool would pay out every 50 days.
The 100 SBD prize pool would pay out every 100 days.

(note, these amounts are different than the ones first talked about. Others convinced me this was much fairer this way.)

Obviously, the amounts and time frames will vary depending on the amounts earned in upvotes.

Who can enter?

Any member of Steemit can join, but keep in mind only the daily mini will be a sweepstakes. The main SBD prizes will a contest that requires a little more effort (like making a post). The vast majority of the subjects will be about the homesteading/survival/self sufficiency/foraging categories. Knowledge in these areas will always be a big plus in the larger prize contests.

Unlike the daily prize mini's, the large prize contests will require some thought. We are looking for the best of the best. We'll be asking for your ideas on what to do or how to do something specific to the homesteading/survival/self-sufficiency/foraging categories. Knowing little about these categories can be a hindrance to your chances of winning.

Daily accounting

In the post for the daily Mini contests/sweeps, I will include a full accounting of all SBD earned on every post. You can track my numbers just by looking at my Wallet History. I want everything to be open for everyone to see.

What is the daily prize?

1 SBD

How is the winner chosen?

I will assign a number to each entry by commenting on your entry. When the post pays out, I will use a random number generator to choose a number. I will take a screen shot of the number and post it for everyone to see. The owner of that number wins the prize.

When do I get my winnings?

When the winner is announced.

Can the daily prize grow?

Yes, it all depends on how much incoming funds there are. Check the accounting to see where we stand

NOTE: Accounting updates are only accurate to the last payout received. If a payout happens after the new daily post has been made, it will reflect on the next day’s accounting.

Prize Pools still open for entry

If you could buy any one thing in the world without worrying about money, what would you buy?

Sort:

A beach cottage :)

Have you been able to get to the beach very often? I've made it to Florida 3 times in my life. I love visiting but I am EXTREMELY afraid of Tsunami's for some reason. I've never been in one, or even been close to being in one. I don't know maybe I saw a movie as a kid that stuck with me or something, lol. But I would like at least once to visit and stay in a cottage near the water. All we've ever done is stay in a hotel many miles from the beach. If I could get over my fear, it would be so peaceful!

Aw, that's too bad your fear of tsunamis wrecks staying on the beach for you! I highly recommend it for sheer relaxation. Maybe try a high rise so you can tell yourself you're above the flood zone? Or are you afraid of going to the beach period?

Luckily for me, I have family who live within a reasonable drive (1-1.5 hours) from the Gulf coast. Whenever I visit them, we get a couple beach trips in. Last time I was there I got an Airbnb rental right on the barrier island--OMG, that is SO the way to go, even better (and cheaper) than the beach hotels. I was just thinking this morning that if I had a beach house I'd spend the whole freaking month of February doing the snowbird thing!

I have loved it every time I have been there. I honestly don't know where the Tsunami fear comes from. I've never been in one, never saw on in real life. I guess seeing all the video of people being swept away in the one from the last 10 years or so left an imprint. I get very emotional thinking about the fear people go through and hearing the stories of the survivors.

What @beatitudes8 said.

Seriously, a good sized piece of land with water. Chickens, quail, peacocks, guinnes, rabbits - Angora and meat, goats. A wood shop, a green house, lots of fruit and nut trees. A bee yard and a honey house. A grove of walnut trees, for income and so I can name my homestead Walnut Grove because Little House is the best book series and tv show eva. Five or six tiny houses set here and there for family to stay in when the want or need to. I’d add to the list a paved driveway, but I don’t want to get greedy.

EDIT: I need a creek with a bridge.

Your's sounds better then mine @powellx5. I want you'r land. With a paved drive and a beautiful bridge across a slow rolling creek!

I like the bridge idea... So I edited my post.

LOL lets not forgot the view. It needs a beautiful view I want to see for miles and miles!

We keep finding little things we are the same about. Since we bought this house, I have wanted to install a fish pond, with the water flowing from a big rock sitting on the front porch. The pond would curve out into the yard and create a little waterfall, going down the grade to the bottom of the hill. From the driveway, to the top step (there is only 2) of the porch, I want a long, curving bridge the pond will flow under.

Happiness for all.

That is a good one to choose. So many people trying to make a living, they forget about happiness.

Yes, this is the most important part of life.

Any invention that can provide me money for as long as I live without doing any work for it so I can divert my efforts to more good use in building good relationships with my family, friends and to the community and the environment.

I can't think of any invention that would last so long without updating. But if you think of something, let's talk as see if we can find a way to finance it.

I would buy Happiness

I like the happiness. Without happiness people get bitter and cause more unhappiness to others.

I would buy a largest land for everyone to built their homes.

Good idea. I would love to do something similar. Have a farm area to grow food for everyone, a lake and streams to provide water and so much more.

Tough one. Healthcare for all that need it.

I agree. I think a society who makes healthcare un-affordable for most while the rich take more and more from those who can't afford it, is a society that is ran by greed, no matter how many at the top claim how religious they are.

A huge Area of land. With a lake, ponds, farm, pastures and lots of wooded acres

Where are you at? Can we pool resources, this is my dream too.

Haha yeah no doubt. SW MO

Either my own home on a large plot of land or a college education at my dream school!

@kiaraantonoviche you are #5

That would be a tough decision. If you go for the education, you could end up having the land and living there is style IF society doesn't fall before you reach that stage. With the land, you would always have a place you could go to away from cities if society does fall. Tough choice.

That dream bunker for the zombie apocalypse! LOL just kidding. A way to provide clean drinking water to places in the world that really need it. OR. These urban gardening pods for every major US city. http://www.businessinsider.com/kimbal-musk-shipping-container-farms-new-york-city-2016-12

You are #11

I don't think the dream bunker is a bad idea @madpotters! But I like the water and pods ideas too. Water is one of my biggies. If I could, I would buy a Berkey for everyone on the planet!

Ive never heard of a Berkey, so I googled it and WOW. I need one!!! Definitely cant have a self sustaining farm without one.
