Finish the sentence - earn SBI shares and upvotes!.v3.png

A contest with a pot of 3 @steembasicincome shares + 2.5 SBD min., where everyone wins? You're in the right place!

Dear fictio-holics friends, week # 11 has risen from the unfathomable depths of the seas!
Thanks again to @improv for a script that will go down in history since it's been able to awake our most hidden dark side. You can check his gorgeous Punday Monday Contest here.

If dolls were definitely an oddity catalyst, how are you going to cope with a pursuit in a cracked and empty highway half buried in sand? That's where our friend and professional screenwriter @carneasadafilms will push our imagination in today's script! I strongly recommend you to check his #introduceyourself post and his correspondence with Charles Bukowski (!!).

A couple of things before the script:

  • Both @brisby and @anixio donated 1 sbd each to our community! Every donation will be used to increase the pot and share the wealth. Brisby's one will be used this week and Anixio's during week #12. Thank you guys for your support and for helping me in making this contest our little island of peace, creativity, fun and friendship!

  • You know that I don't impose anything here, but please remember that I strongly appreciate a 500 words limit ;-) Also, post your ending in your own blog.. last week there was a great reward for one of you.. but if you don't post as a stand alone piece and just comment on this page your good work will only be visible to the participants ;-)

  • Last week I saw a lot of participation in voting and commenting each other..that's the way guys! Keep voting each other! Why not? Where are you elsewhere planning to give your votes.. to a sleeping whale? to the bananafish god? Do like me and vote/comment generously. Allow me to give this advice as, from my experience, this is the best investment you can do being a minnow-redfish-newbie: it's called growing your account through supporting each other.

Let's cut to the chase and see today's script!!

NEXUS@TubaCity

He drained the last of his waterskin and sank to his knees. What a crap place to die. Tuba City. Dirt and rocks and nothing but a cracked and empty highway half buried in sand. Maybe if he caught his breath he could make it to the mesa. But then what? Who was he kidding? He was done.

There was a distant whoop and he could just make them out. Perhaps five hundred yards. Maybe less. The Eggman and Tree, pace steady, drawn towards him like rats to steaming garbage.

His head drooped down. He had no juice left to fight. And then he saw it. He had to crawl until the dark form took shape. It was a footprint. A footprint sunk into solid rock. Bigger than his head. Three toes, huge claws, every detail visible, as if chiseled by a master. His whirling brain finally caught a gear and delivered. “Huh,” he said, “Raptor print”.

They were only a few hundred yards away now, skullblades catching the last of the sunlight. Time was going, going, gone.

Why here? A two hundred million year old echo pressed into stone, a sliver of time out of sequence, a crossing over point. This was the place. It was meant to be here. Him, Eggman and Tree, and the silent intruder from across a gulf of eons. Good Lord. Who organizes this shit? So many variables for them all to wind up here. Had to mean something, he just couldn’t figure what.

"This wouldn’t be so hard,” he mumbled to himself, “If you weren’t tripping balls”.

Thank you Giddy for the upvote-boost, you're so cool man! Let me dive into it..

Good Saturday, folks.

He looked up at the brown sky. The afternoon was gone and I had to think quickly. He took a good look at the direction of the print. According to the mark, the Raptor was heading south, so without thinking he took the road north. Running away was wearing him down. Now this new finding was speeding up his blood and pulse. He could not be reached or let himself fall. I had to keep going.
The dusty road cracked his face and the sand in the breeze was in his mouth. Tuba was where the devil had been lost and he was close to repeating his fate. He heard the screams again, now closer. He had to pick up the pace if he didn't want the night to catch up with him on that dusty road. He remembered the print and shuddered. Was it genuine? Where did that animal come from? He imagined the sheer size of a Raptor and felt dwarfed. In an unconscious gesture, he touched his waist and remembered that he had lost his weapons on the run. He had become heartless and at that moment he regretted his loss. Any fight, any attack would find him at a disadvantage.
He felt tired. His body was a wobbly shadow. Every step required a superhuman effort on his part. This could not be his destiny. So he didn't want it to be the end of his story. He looked up at the sky again as if looking for an explanation in the face of all this shit together. The moon was coming and he heard again the screams that were already known to him. He felt that fate was on his heels, so he drew strength to move on. The moon stretched its shadow over the stones and every step was a stumbling block.
From a distance you could hear a noise like the branches of the trees when the wind passed by, the detail is that there were no trees in all that town. At times he thought the noises were coming from the earth that was rising at every step. He had the feeling that there had been many men who would have died making this journey and their souls had been locked up or wandering in these lands. He hurried as fast as he could feeling that the end must be near....
He had not advanced when he heard a noise like a swarm. From the north, he saw a group of people running with terror on their faces. At one point he was caught up in that tidal wave of people looking back as if something was chasing them.
Why are you running, what's wrong? I ask almost in an echo.
No one answered him. Everyone kept running. Suddenly he looks to the north and a huge green mass roars like the roaring branches that break in the wind: It was the Raptor.
Any end would be good, he thought without much force and went on.

Good Saturday to you, super Nancy! Your story looks like a dream with that sense of something impending that can happen at any moment... where did Tree and Eggman disappear? In the velociraptor's belly, most probably.

Ok, I'm offically scared! That raptor must be huge, mean, and hungry!

Week #12 is between us! Check it here and good luck, brave storyteller!

Hello @f3nix, it was really hard to fit in 500 words, but I succeeded and here are mine entry to Finish the Fiction Story Contest - WEEK #11 👇📝

I hope you gonna like it, and I hope that I have approached the subject well, because it is my first participation 😊

Welcome to the contest! You will find this group very supportive. :-)

Thank you @giddyupngo for encouraging words 😊

Hope you rested well.. plik pluk, going to read it!

Indeed I did, ty. Lol, "cracks up at plik pluk"

LOL we are two idiots :-PPP

cool contest. Hard prompt. Here's my take. Cheers everyone.

Welcome to our contest/community @dirge! I see that you're into horror stories... that's awesome, I'm pretty much into them too. I agree the prompt it's hard this week as it requires a good deus ex machina.

it requires a good deus ex machina.

that's exactly what i tried to avoid, or at least, make more natural

No velociraptor showing up, then?. well, I appreciate. I suppose I've to just go and read..

Here is my story as well.
This one is on time and I really hope everyone will like it :)

Keep it up and best regards!

Is it on time because you already took a leaf out of @cyemela's time management skills? :-P Let me run and read it!

@cyemela has a good influence on me!

Let me tell you my friend, we should be like him or else, from comment to comment, community to community, and contests that make us run like fools we'll see our life sucked into steemit! 😜

I'm still pondering this and hope to write something in time for the deadline. I'm really stuck on the tripping balls lol I've never tripped so have to figure out how to create something authentic. Might not happen... I'm so impressed with @carneasadafilms (read all of their posts) I don't wanna make a bad impression. ;)

Maybe you can start from another perspective (the velociraptor's one?). You don't really need to focus on the tripping if it blocks you. However, the writer's block is well known.. you won't make a bad impression at all, we read stuff of all sort here! Just have fun playin with us 😉

Ok I managed to write something it's fun to participate and I enjoy the exercise :)
https://busy.org/@antimetica/finish-the-fiction-contest-nexus-tubacity

That's the attitude! Keep it up and in no time your mind will be a bottomless pit plenty of stories ready to be told.

Fun one! Must have spaced out Monday. Thanks again @f3nix!

Yes fun indeed..reminds me of some of my favourite movies. Show us what you're made of with this one, Cyrus! ^_^

This was a fast written story! Only 8h after the script, nice nice. That's the way to go, not like me last time :P

Let's both take example! I'm a professional procrastinator too 😛

Hahahhahahhaha, I know the feeling

That's just how I roll @anixio. The Inlandia Institute writing workshops got me going on prompts. And at this time I've got Friday and Sunday posts scheduled not to mention work on my audiobook Red Roses on the weekends.

Need to write and post these on Wednesday in order to maximize Upvotes from @minnowbooster, etc. Thankful to find this group for the midweek post.

Once my other two blogs end in about 11 weeks might take more time to get these written.

This is time management! Steemit is life sucking, maybe I should do this too..

Ride the wave @f3nix. Really enjoy participating in your contest. Hope to read more versions of this story's ending.

Hope so too! In general we always create a bunch of great ideas and you never get bored (look at your last one for instance..) 🐠🍌

That's really commendable! I should be more organized for sure, maybe define my writing days as well.
Anyways good job on that!

Ye-haaa! (Muse - Knights of Cydonia)

Here comes the wopperone, our myth!

Bad trip, indeed! ;)
This contest is going better every round! Interesting and fantastic stories! I want really cut a slice of time for participating, this week!
Kudos to @f3nix and all the awesome writers here!

We're completing the story written by Rich (and the week before by Improv).. I'm so satisfied with just this!
Wait and see when the professional designer will draw our contest brand! 🐠🍌

Week #12 is between us! Check it here and good luck, brave storyteller!
