Idioms game with SBD prizes (number 8)
Please if you are Dutch/Belgian please leave the "correct" answers for other people from other languages, so we can all have fun! The prize for the "funny" answer is bigger anyway. Bedankt!
Phew, this is much easier to do on a laptop than a phone! I really should play Steemit on a computer more often!
I'm learning Dutch. Everyone is familiar with idioms in their native language, but in an adopted language, they can quickly make you sound like an idiot! So, these are a few idioms in Dutch that I'm trying to learn, before I make an arse of myself!
Photos are my own!
To play this game, no Dutch is needed, I will give the literal translation in English.
Rules
- Upvote!
- Have a go at trying to guess the meaning of each picture/idiom. You can enter BOTH a serious and a funny entry.
- Do it for each three!
- So to be clear: Each picture, a funny entry and a serious entry!
- Winner is at post payout. For the first serious correct entry (of each picture) there is a prize of 0.05 SBD. For the funniest (determined by me!) entry (for each picture) there is a 0.1 SBD prize.
- So, 6 prizes! You don't have to make an entry for each, but please make it clear so I know what is going on!
1
Een en al oor zijn
To be all an ear
2
De hond in de pot vinden
Finding the dog in the pot
3
Het zal mij een worst wezen
It shall be a sausage to me
Good luck, I found these ones particularly weird to directly translate...

Wahaha, @bengy... I’m going to get myself that book :0)
To be honest, I have never heard of the second one before. Maybe it is typical for the Netherlands?
I can only play the funny game, since I know what they mean, so here it goes (I’m not very funny)
Having a walking ear (literal translation of what you have when your ear is infected)
Catching a dog
Sausage salsa
Told you I was not funny - lol
My entry is on behalf of Play 4 a Newbie Challenge. All proceeds will go to a newbie Prize Pool and hopefully you will get other players to join in your game too!

@moneyinfant has added your contest to the list Steemit Writing Contests: Issue #68. The list is updated on a daily basis and your contest will remain on the list until its expiration - there's nothing you need to do.
The list was created to save writers the excessive amount of time spent searching through the #contest tag for writing contests. Now they can just come to the list each day, see new contests and use their time doing what they love - writing.
If you'd like to help spread the word about the Steemit Writing Contest List I'd really appreciate a resteem, but it certainly isn't necessary. The project is simply meant to help writers save time and contest creators attract more contestants.
P.S. If you know of any contests I've missed I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!
I have I ask, what is a tamale? (8)
In non slang it is a cornmeal wrapped mexican/american dish with tomato sauce usually filled with pork, beef or chicken, then wrapped in a corn husk and baked. they are pretty tasty, so a really hot tamale would be a real sexy latino type woman.
Huh, I did not know that! Which country is this slang in?
Common slang in central California in the 70's. Sacramento (the capital) in the 70's had a city Identity crisis, I think because they felt no one knew where it was. Calif. in the 70's was all about San Francisco, and LA. But it did have a large Latino Population.

Thanks a lot @bengy!
Trying again:
Nice to see you again, first in! (1)
Sorry, I had added a quick 0-th rule sometime in between my post and your entry! An upvote is now neccessary, the SBD coming in is starting to drop a lot in these past few days.
Alrighty then :)
Thanks, it helps keep the contest running!
Np...that's understandable :)
