Colorchallenge: Sunday Purple

Super Sunday, Steemians!

Admittedly, my photo albums are not abundantly populated with purple subjects. However, I did come across this lovely plant that was not found in my yard. It was from my visit to the Lyon Arboretum in Manoa Valley. If you love flora, this should be on your list of places to visit. I’m guessing this is the fruit stage of the plant. And when I say “guessing”, I really mean I am not familiar enough with this plant to know.

This is, I believe, a Portea Petropolitana bromeliad. Please comment with a correction if you feel I am mistaken. Interestingly enough, the name is derived from Marius Porte, the French collector who cultivated the plants, and the Brazilian city, Petropolis, near where it was found.
