Tuesday Cityscape Photography: Refurbishing old condominium, ซ่อมแซมคอนโดมิเนียมเก่า

The construction of this condo was abandoned as the result of the 2008-2009 Hamburger Disease: the real estate bubble bursting around the world. It was deserted and left unfinished as the whole Thai economy felt the impact of the American and European economic upheavals. During the last five years, the economy seems to improve and this sore thumb at the corner of New Road (Charoen Krung Road) has been going through some sort of face lift and renovation. However, I am very concerned that another real estate bubble is just round the corner in 2018.
There have been reports of oversupply of condo units in Bangkok though the average price has increased due to inflation. Some condo projects, especially those high end and luxurious ones, are in fact doing a roaring business. I think that it is because interest rates at the banks have been very low to almost negative, investors have to shift their money where they think they will get a sizable return. I think there has been inflows of money looking for better rates of returns on investment in Thailand. I hope that most people will have learned from past lessons and are prepared for any unexpected shock to the financial systems next year.
คอนโดนี้ถูกทิ้งร้างตอนเกิดวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ ฟองสบู่ทางอสังหริมทรัพย์แตกที่อเมริกา ที่เรียกว่าวิกฤตโรคแฮมเบอเกอร์ในปี 2008 ที่ส่งผลกระทบไปทั่วยุโรปและเอเซีย ประมาณห้าปีที่ผ่านมามีแนวโนม้ว่าทุกอย่างเริ่มกระเตื้องขึ้น คอนโดนี้จึงได้มีนักลงทุนมาฟื้นฟูและตกแต่งใหม่ ตำแหน่งที่ตั้งดีมากเพราะอยู่ที่มุมถนนเจริญกรุง แต่ปีที่ผ่านมาเริ่มมีสัญญาณว่าฟองสบู่กำลังจะมาเยือนอีกรอบหนึ่ง เริ่มมีจำนวนคอนโดล้นตลาด ยกเว้นคอนโดหรูราคาแพงที่ยังขายได้เรื่อยๆ คงมีเงินเย็นทีวิ่งหาที่ลงทุนเพื่อผลตอนแทนที่ดีกว่า การฝากเงินกับธนาคารที่ให้ดอกเบี้ยตํ่ามากๆ ก็ได้แต่หวังว่าคนเราคงได้เรียนรู้บทเรียนจากวิกฤตที่ผ่านมา เพราะมีแนวโน้มสูงมากว่าฟองสบู่ทางเศรษฐกิจกำลังจะมาเยือนอีกรอบในปีหน้า อย่าประมาทและวางแผนสำรองกันก็จะดี
