Eternity in your heart
This morning my husband told me something that was disturbing. He was listening to a podcast by the preacher Ravi Zacharias. In the podcast Ravi told of a time earlier this year, where he spoke to over 40,000 university students worldwide. 
These students aged 18-24 were allowed to talk to people in the ministry about their most pressing questions and problems in their life. I will share the two questions that came up more than anything else:
How do I free myself from the bondage of porn addiction?
AND
How do I cope with the urge to kill myself?
How far we have slid as a people that these are the prevailing queries of our youth's suffering minds!!
Though these two dilemmas seem unrelated, they both stem from one root cause. Dehumanization. The first a dehumanization of another, and the second a dehumanization of oneself. Our cultures are buckling under years of systematic devaluing of life and the undermining of our inate value. 
There was a time I struggled with suicidal thoughts. In fact a couple of years ago if my mom hadn't stopped by out of the blue with some iced coffee I probably wouldn't be here right now...
Today I am whole and I stand here with a message to anyone struggling with the emptiness of dehumanization.
YOU HAVE VALUE!!
You are loved!
You are not here by accident!
Where does your value come from? Another human being? No. Society? No. Your status in life? No. Government? Um, NO!! You see I am a christian and I believe your value is intrinsic. It was bestowed on you when you were created and as a human you are stamped with the image of God. It does not stop there, though. He also says that he has put eternity in your heart. (Ecc. 3:11) Whether you feel it or not, or believe it or not. Maybe it's been quenched by affliction or busyness or trauma or affluence or societal conditioning -- but it's there! I just wanted to remind you of that today.
So keep searching, keep learning, and open yourself up to the possibility that God is calling to you and asking you to search Him out....

I am glad to hear that you are stronger today than you were a couple of years ago.
In truth it is all too easy to look upon others judgmentally when they face problems that one has not. All the more so when one has not experienced them.
Incidentally I'd also treated this topic a few weeks ago, occasionally revisiting certain tags as I do believe that it needs to be delivered to those in the greater need of it.
You're right about how people judge what they haven't experienced...one tends to imagine the "right" way to deal with a problem and they compare their hypothetical self to the real problem in someone else's life.
Your article was very thorough and well thought out...it must've taken you days!!! I hope it reaches the people who would be helped by it. :)

I hate to say it, but what we are communicating on is the root cause of both of those problems, and parents who spend to much time having to work because there are no fair wages out there. So the days of one parent working, and the other staying at home for the children are the luxuries of the poor and the rich. While the middle carries the burden for both and their children pay for it.
You bring up a great point, and it's causing a lot of pain...

I listen to Ravi Zacharias most mornings on my way to work and I agree with him when he says that without God/Jesus we live in a vacuum and the area where the Holy spirit should be is empty. The generation currently in university are so hollow and hungry to find purpose that they will cling to anything to find meaning even if it is temptation by Satan. What they don't realize is that through believing in Jesus as their saviour, all one's sins get washed away and God can see them in their true beauty. Great post! Upvoted and following.
Hi @boodles17! It's true, our youth are so hungry for meaning in their lives. Unfortunately even some young christians are not immune to these issues. In my hopes my kids will stay close to home and attend a technical college so they can learn a trade, and not a university -- but that's just me...thanks for the upvote and follow!! It is the devils that want us to suicide. That way they can keep those souls. I have had to deal with porn and masturbation. It was after watching some of those Youtube videos that talked about seeing hell and them that did fornication and masturbation that got me to finally stop. If you can just lust in your heart and be guilty of fornication, then how can someone masturbate and not think of lust after even an unknown partner? To me it seems we must learn to bind evils spirits in the name of Jesus and loose spirits of God in the name of Jesus. It would help in the struggles of all believers.
