MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE (THE PENETRATION PRINCIPLE)

Whenever people struggling to “make the world a better place”, I remind myself there is nothing pristine in that idea. My God aimed at it and achieved it first!

The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep …. Then God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:2,3 (NKJV)

There existed at some point in time, a geographical anomaly, which an appreciative God decided, was not the best course for the earth. He did not like an earth, which was without form, and which was void. The darkness upon the face of the deep held no appeal for Him so He decided to do something. He said, ‘Let there be light!’ Once God caused light to come about in the formless, void and dark earth, He set forth a pattern.

To aspire to ‘make the world a better place’ is by no means an empty carnal striving. The key issues for actors are motive and motivation. If you are motivated by your obligation to heavenly Authority, then such task lies within divine will.

There are two focal reasons why:

Believers Are the Salt of the Earth

Salt is precious; salt was once used as a valuable medium of exchange. As a matter of fact, the English word salary derives from salarium (Latin for salt). Salt is an indispensable condiment in daily cuisine; go watch any skillful chef who is ‘worth his salt’ (a Greek derived expression) how he or she deftly uses salt! We as believers have the privilege of being declared by a Royal Fiat of creation as the salt of the whole God’s Earth.

You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its taste-its strength, its quality-how can its saltiness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. Matthew 5:13 (Amplified)

Now is precisely the best time to stop being a tasteless and flavorless Christian. Can you imagine salt-less, tasteless salt? Oh, it would be a sad travesty!

There are Christians, for instance, gifted with such mellifluous voices, to sing praises to God and to edify or to entertain the Body. Yet what we have right after they have done their ‘best’ in the church choir on Sunday is conspicuous and unimaginative silence.

Is it only in church (you should be curious about this) that we can be edified by and be entertained music? Largely, the salted voices among believers stay silent while the airwaves are overtaken by raunchy music laden with lewd lyrics. Entertainment show promoters, manufacturers, and marketers are move from one musical show to another, endlessly pouring wild percussion into the ears of lovers of secular music. While once in a very long while you have just one Christian musical.

This is not good enough. We must invade all spaces where hedonism and unrighteous practices hold sway and exalt our God in those high places.

Today is ripe time for change!

Brother, do not lose your savour. Sister, do not allow yourself be cast out under foot, and to be trodden under foot by men.

Believers Are the Light of the World

Light through its illumination is very creative and perspicacious and directional. There is gloom about creation because the Light of the World has refused to shine with maximum effect. Can you compare the fickle glow of candlelight with the outburst of an incandescent bulb? It would be an unfair comparison, would it not? But because the Light of the World has refused to give the incandescent burst rather than the dim glow of candle light, the rest of humankind, therefore, gropes along a slippery pathway in pitch-black darkness.

Ye are light of the world …. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14- 16

The penetration principle is how salt and light operate. And that is how we as Christian believers can affect nations for the Lord and His kingdom!

Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Isaiah 2:2 (NKJV)

Salt insider a shaker does not make anything tasty. The saltiness of salt is released only when the molecules of salt get involved. The blazing rays of radiant light pierce darkness like a laser through material. Light cannot be obscured or overcome; once lit, it swallows darkness. Child of the Most High, you must, like salt, and like lighting,
