"Choose This Day..." - Daily Word #52

Every single day we make critical choices in our lives.

Some great choices and then some not so wise ones. We may even be unaware that there are real repercussions from making all of these choices. Question is, will our choices empower us or will it imprison or enslave us?

The Bible also talks about "Choosing". And it clearly gives us a choice -- to Choose God or to Choose the Ways of the World. It's actually pretty simple.

You see the World will always have its ways to entice you and I to head down that "wrong" path. Sometimes these paths may look so convincing, enticing as it is 'brightly lit' -- leading us astray and into a different path from where God intended us to be.

Did God lead us wrongly?

No, it was more of us desiring to be on a certain path so badly... that we tell ourselves that this is the "right" path for us!

The Bible In Matthew 7:13, talks about the "Narrow Gate"

"You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way"

Are you walking in the path God has led you to?

If you look at the Book of Joshua 24:14-15 (NIV), you can see Joshua warning the people to stay Faithful to God!

"Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then CHOOSE for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, We Will Serve the LORD."

Joshua said this and later he passed on. This was his lasting legacy (and advise) that he wanted to DRILL into the heads of the people. It also relates to our life here in the present.

You see, in order to walk this narrow path that the Lord has called us to, we have to choose to put away all of our "gods". (our idolatry, our self-interests, our stubborn ways, our time-thieves that takes you away from God, our sin that so easily entangles us, etc). Sounds hard but not to worry, as the Holy Spirit will be our partner to work it all with us.

Choose This Day...

Will you decide today to Fear Him, Serve Him and Worship Him faithfully, with your Life (and your Household)?

Over to you.

Blessings & Shalom.
