Now I played the unexpected move 25. Ne7+. After 25. ... Nxe7 26. Rxc7+ the position is about equal (verify yourself!). However it seems my opponent, who a moment before still thought he was winning, got taken by surprise by the events happening on the board. He played some bad moves and finally "the shoe was on the other foot", I was actually winning that game! Look at the position below: |
Jetzt spielte ich unerwarteterweise 25. Se7+. Nach 25. ... Sxe7 26. Txc7+ ist die Stellung ungefähr ausgeglichen (prüft es selbst nach!). Allerdings schien mein Gegner, der noch kurz zuvor mit einem Sieg gerechnet hatte, von den Ereignissen auf dem Schachbrett so überrascht zu sein, dass er einige schlechte Züge machte und selbst in Schwierigkeiten geriet - der Wind hatte sich gedreht, und ich war dabei, dieses Spiel sogar noch zu gewinnen, siehe Position unten: |

Yes @jaki01, I thought I would do the same move with the white knight. Then I've scrolled down and saw the additional board. Did you sleep last night? Is the baby still not crying much? My best wishes to you all. I would move as follows:
White can win much faster than with 1. Rb6 !
I am a night owl anyway: I always go to bed late. At the same time normally I like to sleep very long in the mornings, so that we have kind of an agreement that in the mornings my wife has to care about the baby if it is crying (and fortunately it is not crying so often yet). :-)

Black can only delay the checkmate with useless moves like 38. ... Rxf3+.
Very interesting how even boring looking endgame positions rather often hold the potential of directly attacking the opponents king!

Nicht aufgeben: Wichtig ist es, nicht nur einen Zug zu nennen, sondern den ganzen Weg bis zum Gewinn ...
Ja ich weiss ich hab nur gerade etwas Kopfschmerzen und leichte Konzentrationsprobleme, seit ich mich vor etwa 48h bei Steemit registrierte. xD Ich sollte mal ne Runde schlafen, ich folge dir jedenfalls und freue mich auf weitere Rätsel und vielen dank für das Teilen.

Ja Schach ist klasse, sollte ich beides wieder öfters tun =P
Pass auf, @lysergic! Als ich im Dezember Steemit entdeckte, habe ich genau so angefangen, wie Du. Weihnachten hatte ich dann eine Kreisklaufkrise und landete im Krankenhaus. Steemit ohne Disziplin ist der Weg in den Abgrund!

how bout B7 to B6..all sides covered. f6 can only go to f5 or i can be patient and let b4 be a queen
Actually it is true that 1. Rb6 should be enough to win in the long run.
However there is another (better) way to win really fast ... :)

If black delays the checkmate as long as possible, white needs 7 moves to win.
