Cat Respiratory Bad Health Signs 18/6/2018

in #cats6 years ago

If you are a regular reader then you may know I mentioned that my cat Bella as not been very well its difficult to explain but at first I thought she had a hairball but it sounds like wheezing with a congested chest infection, she as what seems almost like coughs but doesn't bring anything up, her breathing almost sounds like purring but its not purring its because she's so congested.

I know that cats can often get upper respiratory infections, if your cat shows any signs of a respiratory illness you could be noticing things like sneezing, wheezing, runny eyes or nose.

Most feline upper airway infections are caused by "and its not hard to guess" but yes viruses a upper airway infection can be quickly a serious matter for your cats health.
Untreated these infections can lead to secondary infections resulting in chronic problems and even death.

Respiratory disease can also be linked to other serious problems, like allergies, dental disease, even cancer but what's interesting is 90% of all upper airway infections are caused by two common viruses but as for my cat Bella we already ruled out the first disease, and that leaves something within the Feline calicivirus.

But there is also fungi, bacteria, tumours or dental disease that could cause the problem but as for Bella we can rule out dental disease.

But there's another big culprit Asthma its actually very similar to human asthma so its a inflammation of the small passageways of the cat’s lungs.

What interested me about Asthma the most is it can possibly make the lungs discharge a mucus into the airways leading to fits of coughing and wheezing which sounds alot like what Bella is suffering from.

A expert in the field Dr. Gibbons explains that coughing is more specific to the lungs and more commonly associated with asthma I feel like its not exactly coughing or breathing that Bella is having issues with its hard to explain but it seems perhaps like more of a congested wheezing which according to the info I have seen most likely means Bella may not have Asthma either.

Possible Feline Asthma Video

Here is a video found on youtube of what Bella kind of does but not exactly how she sounds she doesn't always get into this position either actually most of the time she doesn't.

Cat Dakota Coughing Video

If you look at this video you can get more of a feel for the kind of body language Bella is displaying I have been often asked if she is with her shoulders hunched and the neck extended with rapid breathing or gasping for breaths? But mostly as the cat in the video shows Bella stands straight and as the congested breathing, even when it gets difficult for her she doesn't normally extend her neck to the ground nor does she gasp for air its more like regular breathing difficulties.

Not A Hairball, Problematic Breathing

So here is another video that I found this kitty sounds more like about the severity level of Bella's breathing.
But the kitty seems to have more of a blocked coughing fit while with Bella its more of a congested constant breathing type of difficulty sound, the breathing itself almost seems like shes purring and sometimes she does have a fit of wheezing but its not gasping.

Right now Bella as had this illness for a while, over 3 weeks now but is not accompanied by any pain but she does have some discomfort, she's got some noticeable facial deformity, only after the wheezing fits does she rarely gag but not because for lag of air but mostly like she wants to be sick but never gets to the point of bringing anything foamy up nor any mucus type of substance, but weight loss is also present.
These are all still serious and can kill if they get to their worst form but thankfully Bella seems a little better again shes gained a little weight back and spends more time awake, she is also now more aware of her surroundings.

She needs antibiotics I dont have enough money to get her the help she needs so if anybody can spare some extra large upvotes it would be appreciated by myself and Bella.
Also a special thanks to @karenb54 who made a donation to Bella I haven't asked for donations as your votes are enough of your kindness and all that I ask, but @karenb54 went the extra mile for trying to help fund some medicine for Bella so big thanks to @karenb54 and also thank you to those who have helped so far.

Milk with aloe vera is recommended in this case of Bella, apparently it is an asthma that is affecting it, I recommend discarding in your house the agent that is producing bronchial asthma

Its not Asthma that Bella as but this tip is very interesting thank you very much for sharing something I will keep just incase for future use.

I am glad that Bella is showing a little bit of improvement. I wish I could help more but I had to take Pachino to the vet last Thursday and the bill was $300.00! I will do a post on Saturday about his vet visit. I pray that you will have the means to get Bella's meds ASAP. This is the best I can do right now. Tip!
